I dont know if it was intended but as Jean crawls her shield flickers and a bit of it branches off dissipating to me signaling that she's fading...her strength leaving her. For some reason, Fox's ownership of the movie rights prevents Disney/Marvel from using the word mutant outside of comics. Disney/Marvel tried to spite them for it with things like changing Scarlet Witch and Quiksilver's parentage, and by removing all X-Men from animated works like Avengers. Hopefully the deal to buy 21st Century Fox goes through so this whole mess can end.
