When i was young i listened to this song on the radio not paying attention to the lyrics. But when you know the story behind, it is really heartwrenching. I heard the song was written based on the blurry picture of one of her distant relative, a girl deported during WWII. Merci pour ce commentaire. Bonne soirée, bonne journée,

The Ruth mentioned in the song was JJG's mother, she was a German Jewish woman born in Munich. One day he found a picture of a little girl in a family album. Her name was not known, but she was a friend of his mother's.

I've known this song since it was released, in 1982 , I was 8 years old. I fell in love with Jean-Jacques Goldman watching him singing this song on TV. I know it by heart, but it still moves me each time, 42 years later. And seeing your emotion is even more overwhelming. Thank you for making his music and lyrics travel through space and time, as he retired in 2016 and doesn't do it himself anymore.

This song is about the holocaust crimes. He speaks about a little jewish girl, a little angel, who was unfortunate to live, in Poland I believe, when it was invaded and was killed by the nazis. A very moving song, now a classic of french music. Jean-Jacques is the god of songwriting in France (for himself or for others such as Johnny Hallyday, Céline Dion). The best songs of Celine have been written by JJG. I largely prefer the songs he wrote for her than her english catalog. Lara Fabian, one of our common favorites, made a cover of Comme toi btw.
@richthi Жыл бұрын
I agree. Nevertheless, I think Lara Fabian's cover of "Comme toi" is less emotional than the original JJG version, because it lacks simplicity and she overplays a little. I think that the best interpretation of "Comme toi" except the JJG one, is the one from Amel Bent here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX7VZ4pnept1gLc

@@richthi yes, for once, a cover from Lara does not supersedes the original, I do agree. And I am an absolute fan of Lara. Still a beautiful cover.

C'est un bouquin de Tatiana de Rosnay "Elle s'appelait Sarah". Dont évidemment le titre reprend des paroles de la chanson, mais disons que le film vient du livre, et pas directement de la chanson.

As you are interested in French music I would like to suggest the best artist in France that you absolutely must discover! she has a 40-year career and is a real showgirl on stage! Her name is Mylène Farmer! You could start with Peu etre toi (maybe you) live in Bercy I hope you will like it

@@jeanleveau7904sorry he wrote this song for a big comedian who's died in a moto crash. This guy was called Coluche. Jean-Jacques and Coluche made a huge help for homeless and poor people. One time a year, french stars make a show to have enough money to give meals, clothes even jobs. It continue despite Coluche's death. It's still exist today, it's about 36-37 years. 😉

It was inspired by JJ's own family history. His father was a Polish Jew and his mother was a German Jew... One day, he saw some family pictures taken in the 30's and behind some of them was written "deporté". So he writes this beautiful and implicit song as an hommage to his family and to every holocaust victims
