Ah the days when samplers were only available to serious artists. Zoolook still stands up as fresh today. One of his greatest albums. Sadly for me his direction has become lost in the techno mediocre genre. Fascinating footage as I have never seen him working in the studio. Thanks so much for sharing.

Yeah Jarre has fallen from a true visionary down to almost a copy of all the copies of himself. I guess he's having fun at least, but his newest music is not much better than the countless "DAW-less jams" that have populated KZbin and electronic music groups on Facebook. Zoolook, however, was really a pioneering album at that time, and the process must have been painstaking. Much respect to this man for his whole early career.
@Ian-gw2vx4 жыл бұрын
@@ini9258 Well imho for me Zoolook, as limited in in technology as it was then, sounds far more exciting, fresh and organic than most electronic music today created with zillions of vsts etc. You can do far more with less.

37 ans plus tard, ce studio de 1984 peut tenir dans un ordinateur, et tout le monde peut se l'offrir. Seul le talent de Jean-Michel ne s'achète pas. 37 years later, this 1984 studio can fit in a computer, and anyone can afford it. Only the talent of Jean-Michel cannot be bought.

U gotta be kidding me No doubt he is a genius.. a master of samples... :) After i listened to it seveveral times i just realized it. 1:28"és nagyon örülök, hogy haz..." this is a part from a hungarian sentence I have only one question: Mr. Jarre where did you get the original sentence to this sample? (From a film, a tape... or something else) Nevertheless... thank you this album... and your fantastic musics!
@LaLa-6581 Жыл бұрын
Definitely! I heard the same thing! You can even see on the screen @6:23 into the video that one sample is called "HONGROI2" - which means "Hungarian2"! And I'm pretty sure it's one of the samples that can actually be heard in the Zoolook album, so this to me is proof positive that there are (mangled) samples of Hungarian speech in it.

I think it's this "és már múlik richy alszom" which translates from Hungarian as "depends on how well I sleep". I played it from another device into Google translate and even played back on there sounds the same when the AI talks it back. However, I sent the link to this video to a Hungarian friend who says it translates to something different like "I'm glad you came back". Let's just say JMJ has put a right conundrum on there!
@LeoDaV714 Жыл бұрын
@@paisteformula6021 It can be any language really. He might have spliced and diced the sounds. He did it on purpose for he did not want the words to be recognizable. He took parts of vocals and put them together. 'Bizzare' however is a standard sample from the Fairlight library so is the timpani sound.

What would he say of the horrible music from nowadays
@hatzegopteryx.sounds36373 ай бұрын
Would??? He is still very much alive and still very active, in fact, he is making modern music today with modern softwares like Ableton live and he is really excited about AI and VR projects. Listen to 'Oxymore' from 2022, it's modern but amazing. He is not into nostalgia, he is a very young and energetic 76 year old.
@johnthecloud2 ай бұрын
Sadly his recent output is very much like the horrible music of today. It's very EDM and DJ inspired. He's become a follower of current fashions instead of a pioneer.
@hatzegopteryx.sounds36372 ай бұрын
@@johnthecloud What a silly thing to say. Just listen to Amazonia or Oxymore, both are expetimental, complex, clever, creative projects, just like Oxygene or Zoolook. Oxymore was praised by so many critics, it's an unconventional piece of art, it's as far away from EDM as possible.
