How anyone can sound that good at over 80 years of age absolutely amazes me. I doubt if we'll see another like her.

Yeah she sang that low part really well soo Good

None of today's supposedly country' singers come close to Jean Shepard. She was & will always be well beyond today's country singers. Her voice was pure country. No one even comes close.
@taylorhauntus10 жыл бұрын
Jean can't be beaten by anyone when it comes to singing country songs. Moreover, her love for true country music is unmeasurable: she never restrained from voicing her displeasure for pop-country, even though she knew she'd have paid in terms of airplay and, therefore, sales. That's why she was locked out of the Country Music Hall of Fame for over 30 years and never won a major award (CMA or ACM). Anyway she doesn't need no "Female Vocalist Of The Year" or "Entertainer Of The Year" awards: she's the female vocalist of the CENTURY and the entertainer of a LIFETIME.

I'm 20 and I listen to Jean everyday pumping the volume up. My "friends" say her music sucks and it's not cool, but they're just a bunch of idiots. With over 60 years in the business and a golden voice (still great at 81 years old) Jean is one of the best artists who ever lived. And I seriously can't find a singer cooler than this woman. Love you Jean

Totally agree with you buddy I'm 28 snd was brought up on her, still play her music on the loudest I can she is one of the best singers alive to still have a golden voice well into her 80's shows you she has it all its good to see another young person love the older classics

I am 68 now but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't feel blessed to have grown up with country music but especially in the era's of the late 50's to the early 80's. Gee there were some great artists from that time, none to mention as we were blessed with so many, many, many. So many have passed on now but were absolutely brilliant. Those days are gone now and will never be seen again in my lifetime unfortunately. I am still biting my lips not to print names that I think as it would take up so much space, but seeing it was Jean Shepard who prompted this comment it is only fair to mention her. What a voice she had even in her 70's she would have left most country female artists for dead. Jean, thank you for your contribution to country music, you'll never be forgotten, R.I. P. Jean, you are a legend

@Camille Welk , Ma'am, please take no offense because Jean is a great singer, but I hope she did not live the life in some of her songs, I did with much regret, if she did & you do not have to answer, but was she saved by Jesus ?, like I was as it sure would makes her feel better cause I know I influenced a lot of fellers/folks in a bad/evil way & feel responsible for that, I'm just an old Irish man & family is all from rural Kentucky, God Bless y'all, AMEN

When I was a kid, I sang on a local music show. Each week, the show featured a star from the Grand Ole Opry. I was fortunate enough at the ages of 10-12 to meet many of the legendary performers of country music in the early 1960s. Sure, there were a few drinking problems or companions instead of spouses. But, at 63, I still remember with great pleasure that every single one of them treated the little local boy with only the most dubious claim to a moment of their time with great kindness and generosity. Among the performers I met were both Jean Shepard and Hawkshaw Hawkins. I also remember feeling such a sense of loss when Mr. Hawkins died only weeks after his appearance on our show. They were lovely people, and it is a joy to see Ms. Shepard looking well and sounding great at 80.

If I were to write Jean a letter expressing how much beauty, sincerity, and feeling she has given to all who have heard her sing down through the years, where could I send it that I'm sure she would receive it? I am not an autograph seeker, but I am definitely one who sincerely wants to express thanks and praise for all they have given to others. In this case, I just want to pay tribute to her for all she has contributed to country music and to me, one of her special fans. Someone please fill me in so I can let her know.

Back in the 1960s I DJ'd a country show on WINA Radio in Charlottesville, Virginia. "The Tip of My Fingers" by Jean Shepherd was always one of my three favorite songs along with "Sweet Dreams" and "Faded Love" by Patsy Cline. I was on the air the night Patsy Cline and Jean Shepherd's husband Hawkshaw Hawkins died in the plane crash in 1963. RIP Jean Shepherd. Your niche in country music is permanent.
