Breathtaking footage of a real genius and force of nature. I’m obsessed with his infinitely beautiful violin concerto, the Valse Triste, and the last movement of his 5th symphony. Forever grateful to him!

Those are masterpieces of music for sure and probably my favourite music in existence. Check out his piano work: "Kuusi" if you haven't already. It's really beautiful.

Sibelius and the President of the Republic (1:06) were actually old school chums. They were both born in Hämeenlinna and went to the same school. President Paasikivi was five years younger than Sibelius, but they were, if not actual friends, at least some kind of acquaintances, and they were able to share memories of e.g. the same teachers.
