I feel such longing in his pieces... such love and sensitivity one can not help but to be moved to the point of tears with his music... Sublime!

For really remarkable take on this piece listen to Kivinieme on sinfonia organ, also on KZbin. One would be forgiven for thinking it had been composed for the instrument.

Just now I listened to Kiviniemi playing this on organ. Just wonderful! Thanks for sharing that. I’m glad that you did.

too fast! As Sibelius said, more humanity!

i think it would be nice if it wasnt too slow or too fast because andante means walking pace. This piece in the video here is almost jogging pace already. Slow down a little, maybe to 5 mins would be just fine. 6 mins is way too slow, too.

You are absolutely correct, that's the heart of the piece and it's weak here, but are you sure it's the tempo? I find myself missing a bigger ensemble and especially the deep strings. ... I know, of course I'm familiar with Sibelius' own performance recording, and far be it from me to argue with the guy who wrote the thing, but I think that's too slow. He makes it syrupy. Taste is taste, I suppose, and this piece is very open to interpretation.

It's very top heavy. More cello and bass sound needed!

Sehr schön gespielt aber ein wenig zu schnell . Wie mein Vorgänger schon sagte dieses Werk unter der Leitung von Sibelius ist langsamer und viel Humaner Sibelius umarmt die Welt

It's funny, but I find myself getting annoyed when I hear the Andante Festivo being conducted at too slow a tempo. The piece originally was composed as a celebration, and there's a wonderful, exhilirated air to Saraste's interpretation that a slower pace seems to dampen.

its way to slow... of course, sibelius' version is even slower, but once you hear it (and play it) faster, there's no coming back from that... it is a beautiful piece. the problem is the tempo...
