Ace, I heard some music on Swedish cop show a few weeks ago, knew I knew it, but could not place it, it's been so long. I was pretty sure it was Sibelius though so have been listening to various pieces off and on and here it is here The Swan of Tuonela.I am a happy, if tearful, girl now. I used to play this stuff all the time, but that stopped when I got married, my wife could not stand that 'old squit' as she put it. Country and western, not my thing at all but I had to put up with it. But she's been my ex now a good few years and I can do more or less as I like.

I live in the American south South Carolina specifically and am just now discovering this most wonderful, mesmerizing composer. KZbin with a few dollars to banish advertisements is presenting me with such amazing music, composers, performers, and conductors. Right now it's Sibelius all the time for me. It has been so nice to read comments from music lovers around the world.

How I adore the first movement of this exceptional work. Sibelius at his finest which means of course music doesn’t get any better than this. Paavo Jarvi is a great Sibelius conductor without doubt and the playing of the Stockholm Philharmonic is magnificent. However I’ve yet to hear a performance that can surpass or quite match that of Ormandy/Philadelphia Orch from the late 1970’s.

I would not say this is the clearest example of it, but the national romantics didn't shy away from patriotism. Sibelius also composed some pieces of famous and now traditional military music where this is more explicit and admitted by him literally. Jaeger march, for example, which was composed by him to the words of a Finnish jaeger in Germany, in preparation for fighting for Finnish independence, was inspired according to him while he was gripped by tremendous spirit of patriotism. This goes a long way from modern spirit, which disregards the fate of the country, let alone the people. Serious times produced serious personalities. Life or death themes were experienced personally by the generations of the past.

When the world crumbles, when the structures of a civilization falter, it is good to return to that which in history does not flex, but on the contrary recovers courage, gathers the separated, pacifies without bruising. It’s worth recalling that the genius of creation is also moving in an history devoted to the destruction 💙

@M S Right ... I saw & heard fountains of chocolate milk gush from her paradise, without laughing the stars began to chat and ceased to scroll and we to grab hold of their golds at dawn. The sun was dizzy and the moon, stirred, hid behind a section of clouds in the shape of a barbapapa 🦄

"The Swan of Tuonella" uses four images, how many are you referring to? The first, second, and fourth images can be easily identified with an image search, but the third image was created by myself by processing multiple images, so no other identical image exists. Thanks.

film "composers" are always ripping off romantic composers ...the music for "the Lord of the Rings" trilogy of films was ripped off from Sibelius too.
