good questions- its oxidized indigo and can sit on top of the fabric and prevents the dye from getting into the fabric.

I've done lots of tie dye- and I'm actually launching a new tie dye kit on my website. It would look really cool on some white jeans :)

the color of the sewing threads used for the jeans will get dyed too, right? jeans typically use golden or light gray threads for the stitches.

Maybe but if the thread is polyester it might not.

Thanks so much! So far they haven't faded- I washed them separately as you would brand new dark denim.
