Thank you very much for this video Jeanette. I am Indonesian here, I recently got a scholarship from Indonesian govt to pursue a PhD in Social Psychology. I chose Korea University since there's a professor that I am really interest to do my research with but my Korean is zero. I have been thinking a lot whether or not to submit my application to the University or chose my second choice, The Australian University. Your video has given me a clear clue that I might try living in Korea maybe just for post docs later, a bit shorter time than the PhD. hehe

I feel you. I went to study in Korea in 2011 and struggle in class. I took civil engineering btw and the last straw was when i had to relearn the periodic table in Korean. I decided there and then to pack my bags and go back to Singapore. Of course there other factors such as the Korean students there are so competitive and just not willing to help at all. Studying in Korea made me depressed.

Hi Jeanette! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! I'm actually contemplating going to Korea to brush up my language (although have been learning here in Singapore). Just curious about your meals, I guess you guys will do cooking most of the time? I bet if you're eating out on a daily basis, guess the expenses for food will also be going to be super high? Not sure if you have recommendations of places you can eat other than the school canteen. Thanks lots and God bless! Stay strong!

Thanks soooo much Jeanette for this long awaited video🥰 화이팅 my gurll💪🏼加油! May I please ask what do you think Korea University value the most in kgsp candidates? I’m also planning to apply for kgsp (education majors like school counseling or child-family studies) and the offered programs have been mostly in 100% korean. You made a great point that choosing something else to study JUST because it’s taught in English wouldn’t be a good decision. That said, the struggle is real to study master’s in all korean while not knowing for sure our professors would be all understanding and foreigner-friendly. I only have a year or so to start learning korean before applying cuz i don’t wanna delay getting back to schooling longer haha Anw Wish u all the best❤️ Really appreciate u taking the time to share with us!

Thanks for sharing. Learning the language is really very difficult. Btw, not long ago, someone showed Myeondong now during the pandemic. About 80 to 90 per cent of the shops are no longer operating in Myeondong. As this is a popular spot for tourists so now that Korea and Singapore have agreed on quarantine free travel, I wonder if there is anything left for tourists to explore and shop.

Honest question: do you think your case (struggle) apply in Korea Uni only remembering it is top uni that makes it even more difficult? Cause I did my undergrad and postgrad in the UK, yes it require a lot of self learning but we have lectures every week (where they actually teach), with coursework and exam. For coursework and exam yes we have to do a lot of independent work but academia in there are open, I even consulted with them before submitting my essay (like literally sending them my draft for feedback and then I change following their feedback to be submitted, hence all I need is to prepare ahead and effort to get good score) I’m surprised to hear how competitive it is esp for int students. Hence i wonder if it’s KU only or all unis in south korea are like that

Well, no matter what, don’t quit or give up. Whenever u r stressful, run to Him n ask4 His wisdom n strength to tackle with everything ahead of u. Jeremiah 17: 7-8”Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. (8) For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. “ Stay strong in the Lord!
