Totally understand your feeling as a mom having to hear the news about your baby needing a surgery at one month old. My baby went through a major surgery at 5-day old due to malrotation with midgut volvulus (twisted midgut). Ruel is so cute!

One of our identical twins had a Inguinal hernial. The child health clinic, noticed it twice, but misdiagnosed it several times, that it would go away. Fortunately, after some months, our GM noticed it right away, when we visited him, and suspected it to be a Inguinal Hernia, but to be sure he had to discuss it with the hospital/children specialist. We eventually had to bring our boy to the hospital for diagnosis where they confirmed it as an inguinal hernia. They said it was pretty "common". Fortunately to us, they said it was not very urgent, but had to eventually be taken care of. Also due to the fact that we would go on a vacation for a month! When we got back we eventually had to wait for a spot at the hospital. Took about 3 weeks. So when he was 9 months we brought him to the hospital at 8AM, at 9:30AM was the surgery, about 10:15Am they were finished. The only sad part was when they had to put him under anesthesia .... and I saw him crying, but very quickly fell asleep. I guess I will never forget that part. 😥 Our boy was crying a little bit, when he saw us. But afterwards he was just as normal. About 90minutes later we were allowed to go home. And he was right away allowed to play with his twin brother, like they always do! So don't worry too much. And the scar is barely noticeable! The reason why his twin brother did not have the hernia was because they were born at 36 weeks, but one actually had a gestational age of 34 weeks while the other one was 37 weeks (so in essence one was 2,1kg while the other was 2,6kg, so he was a bit less developed) Good luck!

As a fellow new mom, i really can relate to what you’ve been feeling about the news, the baby, and the surgery. I, as nobody to the baby, to you, to the family, even shed my tears for the baby. So i can only imagine how hard it’s been for you guys. The only thing i can say is that i’m with you Jeanette. Big hug for you, you’re a strong woman and an incredible mother👏🏻

My boy had this problem too, especially when he cried then it got bigger. He had surgery in KK hospital when he was 18 months old. The surgery supposed to be around 30 minutes but I it took more than that as there was infection inside. He was recovering well and had tiny wounds only after surgery. Now he is 16 YO already. It’s better to get him surgery soon:) Take care❤

My first boy, I didn’t know that balls condition needs to be check early. Thank god, his pediatrician told me about it. My second boy, thankfully, i knew about it. So I ask, if not, my second boy’s pediatrician won’t check it. The balls are important, boys mom! It determine their future.

A little early for this question, but how many languages are you planning to teach Ruel? I assume English and Korean, but you also have Indonesian and Mandarin in your families. As an American (Caucasian), I regret not learning at least 1 other language. My 4 years of high school French went to waste.

Ruel cepat pulih.

Reminds me of how I was crying my eyes out when the pediatrician told us that my daughter has to be admitted into hospital, just 2 days after returning home, for UV therapy as her bilirubin levels were too high. Then at the one month review at the polyclinic, which I also went in thinking it would be an easy review, the doctor noticed that there was a sacral dimple that looked suspicious and referred us to KK hospital for specialist review. I was so worried but thankfully, the specialist felt that the sacral dimple was quite small and at her 5th month immunisation, the sacral dimple has already closed off on its own. Hope Ruel's hole would close off without needing surgery too!

@@JeanettesWorld No worries! Yeah, my first month post partum was one hell of a ride. I came down with a very bad UTI during this time too as my gynae's assistant gave me antibiotics that I was allergic too and couldn't take, which resulted in 40.1 degrees fever and chills few days later and I had to stop breastfeeding for a whopping 9 days to clear the UTI with antibiotics. It's a miracle I survived all the ordeals in the 1st month without developing any post-partum depression so take care mummy! There may be many curveballs at the beginning, but it will all turn out fine. Thanks for sharing about Ruel's condition too! We've been trying for #2 for 7 months and hoping for a boy so this is really good to know!

We know how painful it is when we find out that our child is suffering from an illness. It definitely breaks our hearts. That's what Ms. Jeanette is feeling right now, but as a mother, Ms. Jeanette also doesn't panic and tries to research what kind of illness Ruel is experiencing, I hope Ruel gets better soon. , stay healthy and stay healthy for your family

Thanks for sharing, don't worry. That happened to my son at 1.5 years old (wifey didn’t suspect anything). Luckily, my sibling had similar surgery, so I recognised it right away. One side was bigger, and he felt relief when I pushed it back but cried when I let go. I told my wife we needed to go to SGH, and it turned out to be laparoscopic surgery. We also suspected it was from relatives swaying or shaking him while carrying him. Since his groin area was still weak, it could’ve opened the canal, so it's better to limit who carries him and ensure they're gentle.

The joy, the excitement, the hush, the smell of baby oil, the exhausted mom, the soothing earthy confinement herbs, all makes me want to have another baby... but then i just realize i can't take that long sleepless night horrors anymore hahahaha.

Hello, I’m a fan of your KZbin channel. As a Korean living abroad, I’m currently considering pursuing graduate studies in Seoul and wanted to ask you a few questions. What is your major? How many hours do you typically study per day on average? Could you separate the time spent attending lectures and the time spent on coursework or assignments? If you’re attending full-time, how many days per week do you go to campus? How long are the classes, and how many classes do you usually take in a day? As someone who is not a native Korean speaker, is the program you are taking (or have taken) mostly in English, partially in English, or entirely in Korean? Thank you so much for your time and help!

Hi! My major is Cultural and Social Psychology! It depends on workload of the modules I have in that semester but I don’t keep track of it…? If I have to say, then maybe 2-3h doing the work that needs to be done! But there are days I don’t study too! No I couldn’t seperate time I just did whatever was imminent! (In other words needs to hand in bec of deadlines) Yes I attend full time and I go to campus about min 3 to 4 times a week!! My program is entirely in Korean w minimal English! But that also depends on the course you are having. There are full English courses as well as, hybrid courses as well so it varies! Hope this helps ^^
