Good Video... I like what you did but I don't know if you intentionally overlooked the fact that if you 1/2 the voltage you have to x2 the amp or wattage of the power supply. I think this may be why the system was struggling to turn the motors at 6v because they simply didn't have enough power to turn but I also know there may have been other factors involve since the circuit board is quite voltage dependent. I just ordered that pump today and plan to simply add the resistors like you did - good job!

No … basically halve the voltage and you’ll approximately halve the current 🙄

Is it possible to install smaller tubes in the peristaltic pumps to effectively reduce the flow?

Nice tip . Thx. One more thing. I get a lot of air in the tubes over time. Do you have those problems or if you did, how did you resolve them?

Hi Tim, great video!!! can you replace these motors and if so, where and what with please in regards to volts, speed etc. as i think mine have finally died after 2yrs of constantly running them.

One of the problems of this model is the pump heads rely on friction between the motor shaft and pump wheels. They slip occasionally making it impossible to have consistent dosing. I actually bought some replacement peristaltic pumps on ebay, that I have not installed yet. They use a 12v motor and 1mm tubing. They also have a gear set to rotate the pumps making dosing much more reliable. When I have some time, I'll swap the pumps and upload a video on it.

Hi Tim, I have the same jebao dosing pumps. I want to do the same improvement like you, but I don't understand what kind resistors I must buy, in your video I see that you show a package of 100 ohm and 1/2w resistors, but in a comment you write that you use a 10 ohm resistors.... which resistors I must buy? 10 or 100 ohm? and how many watts the resistors must be? thanks!!!

The 100 ohm resistors didn't turn the motors at all, so I used 10 ohm resistors in the end. You are going to need 1 resistor per motor, or 4 resistors with this dosing pump. You can buy a variety pack of resistors really cheap on Amason or Ebay and do a little trial and error with different resistors. I just used what I had on hand and wasn't an engineered decision. The motors are very low power. The 1/2 watt resistors I used have been working fine for the last ~year.

10 ohm resistor each pump power with 9v adaptor right ? Im a new in reef, gonna buy this doser pump, but i want to modify it first, so no need to modify later.. How about if we seperate the schedule into several time ? is it can cause percitipation too ?

10 ohms and 9 volts is what I used. I also have the program set to dose alkalinity 5 separate times during the day, and calcium 5 times at night . You definitely don’t want to dose them both at the same time, or they will react with each other and precipitate out.

Correct me if I wrong.. The Slower the pump the more accurate the dosing. Is it right ?

@@ratherbeflyen1 when I calibrate, the jebao doser stop at 250 seconds, but it don't reach 100 ml. Won't go further

@@nixvapper Calibrate the pump to dose 50 ml, and tell it that it's 100 ml. Then when you set your program, double the setting for the dose. IE, if you want 10 ml dosed, tell it to dose 20 ml.
