I just wish I could have played as the character Barrett seemingly played as. Because when I played Fallen Order I played as a slice of Wonderbread who didn't make any choices or say anything memorable or drive the plot forward anymore than any other character. I played as Video Game Protagonist, not some interesting character. And instead of doing anything Star Wars related, I mostly fought frogs and horses with lightsabers on abandoned planets.

Loved this. I think KOTOR II is still the pinnacle of star wars story telling/music in gaming but it and KOTOR 1 had the benefit of heavy dialog based characters for the user to control. But what Fallen Order did is so many magnatudes better than the Kotors did gameplay wise, I could literally only dream about playing a game like it when I was there with my Xbox running around Korribans Sith academy and Temples as a kid.

In order for someone to have hope of aligning with Barret's opinion here, they will have had to have seen Clone Wars. Jedi Fallen Order is so good because it draws upon all the lore and themes that have been built up in the supplemental Star Wars content over the years. The movies really don't have a lot of what Jedi Fallen Order offers. By exploring and expanding upon these themes from Clone Wars specifically, we can start to see the layers of our characters. The way that respawn tells a rather worn story of a survivor of order 66, but re-contextualizes it in conjunction with all the set dressing that has been built up is nothing short of masterful. Fallen order shows why Star Wars as a property can be so special without the old staples of the franchise. When Cal builds his lightsaber and finally embraces his Jedi prowess, it is a sight to behold, not just because of all the trauma and loss we saw him overcome, but because of all the trauma and loss we have seen countless others overcome in different stories. We connect with Cal, because we know how this could end and seeing a character overcome that and choose a different path is one of the most exciting things we have seen in Star Wars. This is what makes Ahsoka so compelling as well....Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game because it choosing to expand upon narrative themes that are present in some of the best Star Wars stories we have ever had. Now imagine Jedi Survivor tackling some of the themes present in Andor, the future is bright.

I enjoyed Fallen Order. But, the forced sliding sections on every planet annoyed the heck outta me. The sliding and the climbing often felt like recycled Uncharted gameplay, but not as smooth. Small gripe to an overall solid game

The audio desync on the Series X is because of Performance Mode. They essentially increased the frame rate by just making the game go a little faster, however they didn't increase the speed of the cutscene audio so over time the cutscenes get out of sync. To fix it you just have to turn it back to Quality Mode or whatever the other option is and it resets. It was super annoying on my PS5 replay I just did (I played it originally on X1 when it came out). That was really my only complaint about it though.

This game SHOULD be right up my alley but for some reason it isn’t. I primarily love 3rd person, Semi linear, action games like Uncharted, God of War, RE4, TLOU, DMC, Ratchet and Clank etc. And i have tried playing this game like 4 times. Each time i get a little farther into the game but i always drop off. I have no idea why. Something about it doesn’t grab me. Maybe its the cast of characters or maybe its the souls like combat. But i have little interest in Jedi survivor too while i usually love these types of games

Idk about the best the first game was okay at best. Ran like ass on PS4 especially at launch, no fast travel made it hell to traversal, awkward map design ( so much sliding ), and combat that felt like janky souls. Game was a trying to be a jack of all trades but master of None...don't think you'll change my mind Barrett :[

That map transversal was the most annoying thing and it stopped me from trying to obtain the Platinum Trophy. It made the game not fun and i don’t want to play a game that is not fun. I’m surprised they never fixed it in patches. I hope the new game does a better job.

I’m not a fan of platforming but it was especially annoying in Fallen Order. Cal would just straight up not do what you inputted. That giant tree was a giant nightmare lol. Also the last boss fight felt like BS. I turned it down to easy just for that part of the game, and it left a bad taste in my mouth after an overall fun game

Fallen Order is a video game that you don't want to put down once you've started. Sure, the force memories and the backtracking become a bit tedious, but the pure fun from platforming, slicing up enemies, and enjoying the simple yet engaging story cannot be understated. And BD is the best!

Great video as always! I had a similar experience as Barrett. After beating Elden Ring and getting a deeper understanding of Souls games I had a much better time with fallen orders combat when replaying it recently and playing it with a jedi mindset.
