I was once a blue belt.... 12 years ago..... welcome back white belt lol... I stepped back on the mats for the first time in 12 years..... I was able to break guard 3 times with these techniques...... I’m now 37 and if I’m honest with myself not in the shape to roll extended periods anymore....... but..... I’m getting my way back, one class at a time, one technique at a time, one roll at a time..... I’m subbed, it’s crazy not to support something like this where the main goal is to aid in advancing “our” skill levels. Thank you sir.

I really appreciate that you show the consequences of making certain mistakes. Plenty of BJJ content creators out there are too egotistical to ever show themselves tapping. Well done, subbed! -Blue Belt who barely started training with people again due to Covid

That first break blew my simple white belt mind. I've been terrified of getting put in closed guard because: A) My cardio is shit and having to deadlift someone in the middle of a roll is a bad option for me, and B) I was 100% sure I'd get swept the second I stood up. Amazing how simply bending the knees both takes weight off of you and prevents the sweep. The second those feet unlock, his legs will just pop out.

I got so excited when I saw you included the TOZI pass. Even with the variation of using your feet, it is a solid pass and is great for those who have a hard time keeping themselves postured for whatever reason.

This is SO FREAKING HELPFUL to me as a white belt. I work out at an MMA gym, and we don't talk about breaking guard often - I struggle with it a lot and *hate* the "elbows into the thighs" approach.
@HolyMith2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a dick move. I've had an extremely new white belt do that to me before and I was so tempted to just say "the internet is wrong, this isn't okay" 😂

Current blue belt, and I've found myself having to start shifting to standing guard breaks for sure. The "out-in-out" break works great for lower levels, but def need to spend more time breaking using these standing breaks.

Tonight I was taught to do this by spreading my knees for a strong base, hold the belt with arms straight for solid posture and to wiggle back to put pressure on the feet, then push one of their knees down to the side to get past. It seemed easy but I don't have a GI yet so I guess it would have been harder if my partner could grab my gi. So much to learn my brain is exploding! Thanks for the great vid.
