Only a white belt but I think the thing I've learned most valuable so far is to stop trying to learn everything and to narrow it down. Been finding much more success with keeping it as simple as possible and slowly adding and taking things away. I used to have hundreds of videos saved in different playlists and im now only finding some success after cutting the vast majority out and drilling the remaining ones. Takes all the pressure out too and makes it fun again rather than an endless grind. Not to mention I'm thinking faster rolling as I'm not thinking about a dozen setups for so many different moves.

Does a person need to be flexible beforehand to practice BJJ? 3.When you said at Purple belt a person should impose their game plan and not play their opponents, does that mean at white and blue belt we should focus on defense? Meaning focus on NOT getting submitted by all the blue and purple belts?

As a white belt, your videos are very helpful. I watch on my way to class and I try to relate things I see in class to what you say. Oss!

Good video and great advice I'm currently s white belt but I've really improved and feel advance I won my first BJJ tournament 2 Months ago was really excited about that. I had a little bit of a hard time for about my first 2 months then I switched to another gym were the coaches are way better very knowledgeable & patient. I'm looking to get blue belt by the end of this year of 2021. Ever since then I love training jiu Jitsu also with me having a wrestling background and also trained in akido my grappling has really improved and I feel like I've transition well into Bjj. Keep up the good work oss

Started BJJ back in Feb love it! But it seems ever week I have a new sore muscle or joint lol. Gonna keep at it and have been updating my progress with vlogs on my channel. Lets see where I am a year from now. Yes being a white belt is hard but it’s rewarding at the same time!

The blue belt part is so true. Rener and Ryron Gracie describe the white to blue journey as the basic cycle, and purple to brown to black as the master cycle, so it's good to see that everyone agrees on what the blue belt signifies. I was promoted to blue about a year ago, and now I'm starting to play around with different guard passes, sweeps, crucifix, and developing a leg lock game that is near nonexistent. It's a far cry from my white belt days when I'd just kinda hold half guard or lockdown on someone without sweeping because I suck at offense. I'm surprised you didn't mention the "blue belt curse" where people just end up slowly quitting upon promotion to that belt. For many new blue belts, it seems that the climb to the first hill was so difficult and arduous that upon reaching it, they're already mentally checked out. I thankfully haven't reached that point but I wonder if you have advice for anyone who has? Love your videos, man. You're a beast.

I honestly don’t know why blue belts usually quit. I think it’s a matter of priorities. Thanks for the feedback. Couldn’t have put it better!

Just started Jiu jitsu and my gym is predominantly no Gi. I went to a gym where they have use Gis and had the hardest time ever because I had never been in one before. Only been training for a few days but that gyms blue belts couldn’t even sub me. At my gym my coach has everyone on such a high level already that the skill difference is insane.
