Jeep Cherokee 2014 Spark Plug Change

This video shows how to change the spark plugs (or ignition coils) in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. This would likely work for years 2015 to 2019, as well. It is designed for beginners like me to give lots of details, some of which would not be needed for an expert.

Just did the Spark Plug and Coil change out on my 2014 Trailhawk, 3.2 L. Chad, this video was a great reference, thanks! I could not get the intake manifold to come off without cutting the back bracket on the top bolt, used a hack saw and cut 2 slots and removed a 1/4 inch slot just above the bolt, so it would clear that top bracket bolt then it slid right off. If anyone gonna try this trick, caution to not cut the intake manifold with the saw blade. What a mess, the engineers are to make a product that is so annoying to just change out spark plugs!! Took me 3.5 hours to do the job and I'm an experienced mechanic. Took me about 1 hour to finally resort to cutting the top bracket. Makes me wonder why that bracket wasn't designed in first place with a slot in that upper part, as that is all that is needed to let the manifold come off. Glad the job is done, and my Trailhawk is running much better now. I got parts from Rock Auto, Plugs and Coils for under $150. I would highly advise anyone to go ahead and replace those coils, too much work to not do it at this point. My Trailhawk had 150,000 miles and this may have been first change out as I got it used. Again, great Refence video. I used Champion Plugs and Denso Coils.

I loosen two top brackets then took a hammer and extension to break the bottom one. My nerves got bad

Just used your vid as a guide, I did everything you did including breaking all the plastic parts you did. My Jeep runs smooth now, that’s all that matters.

Thanks for the video. I finally changed the spark plugs on my 2014 Cherokee limited after 185k miles today. I may just have been lucky. It took me about two hours and wasn’t bad at all. The car was still running well until recently when it started throwing a cylinder three misfire code. I have not had any major issues with the car since I bought it new in 2014.

4:00 I broke my white plastic too two years ago, I'm doing fine without it. What I have found out is that you should push the whit plastic down and then pull the hose/tube to release it from the air box.

Hey bud. When you take the manifold off for the plug change, are are able to get to the oil pressure sending unit easily from there? I need to replace that sensor as well

I hope you gapped these plugs before you put them in. Otherwise your truck wont run right and you'll be tearing this whole thing apart again in no time. Just saying for those who may not know to do that since I didnt see in the video.

If using correct parts they are pre-gapped and to adjust would damage them.
