I'm so glad you kept the bed the same length and extended the frame. So many people just cut the roof of the trunk of a Cherokee and call it a pickup.

Very nice! And what a unique Comanche. I wonder why Jeep never considered a 4-door, or even a cab-and-a-half version of their pickup? (Maybe to avoid competing against Dodge Rams of the same configuration?") I like the more narrow and compact dimensions of that era of Comanche and XJ Cherokees. And good on the manual transmission! I like the engagement of shifting my own gears.
@comanchecrewcab2 жыл бұрын
Jeep did produce a few crew cabs for auto shows but you are right due to the development of the crew cab dodge Dakota, they canceled the plans in order to eliminate internal competition.

Did you know that the Comanche is a L200 from Mitsubishi ,And it was available in four doors ? Just go to Central or South America and you’ll find lots of it and at a cheap price. All the 90’s (square body) are available now to import to USA 🇺🇸 , Even the diesel versions and it comes in 4x4 too.
@comanchecrewcab2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that’s true, the XJ was a joint venture with AMC and Renault, the MJ is a derivative of the XJ unibody with the addition of the frame on bed design. The 2.5 is a Renault engine and the 4.0 is an AMC engine.
@DidierBan2 жыл бұрын
@@comanchecrewcab , AMC only used the turbo diesel i4 from Renault on the first Gen , the v6 was a gmc engine. The 2.5 and the 4.0 are AMC . The body of the L200 and the Comanche are pretty much the same. The only difference is the Comanche had a unibody and the L200 is a body on frame . Later after the end of production of the Comanche Chrysler used the L200 and rebrand it as a Ram pickup. So…. Yes and no , with the Renault theory.
@herbiehusker1889 Жыл бұрын
@Didier 619 you are 100% incorrect. Mitsubishi had nothing to do with the Commanche. The US got the Mitsubushi Mighty Max and a Dodge branded version of the L200 called the Ram 50. The Commanche also didn't use any mitsubishi engines, unlike other Chrysler products. These are two separate unrelated vehicles.

@comanchecrewcab just the top of the doors not the bottom. The comanche doors slant backwards.. them slanting back makes the truck look like it's going fast lol I'm not saying any of this out of disrespect or to discredit your work. It's an amazing build and honestly I want to try this same thing. The whole reason I stumbled across this video is because I plan on starting a build similar to this in June. I want to make the cab removable to reinforce the frame and while it's off make it a crew cab.. thank you for posting and I will Def be in touch when I start if I have questions if you are okay with it.
