FYI ... Call around to see if Key Shops or even Light/Bulb/Battery Replacement Shops can do it. I have my new key fobs ( for my 2010 Ram 2500 ) I bought online reprogrammed for $35 for up to 4 fobs!! The dealer wanted $250-$300 and I have to buy their fobs ( i bought 4 fobs for $35 on Amazon!! Looks exactly like OEM too!!). good Luck ... Hey BigFrog! Your video seems to have solved part of our problem. The Jeep is a 2002 Cherokee Overland with plenty of miles. With symptoms similar to what you described, I changed the battery in the keys then unplugged the circuit board behind the rearview mirror. The interior lights now turn off after starting the engine, and that's what we wanted. The weird thing is the keyless entry still works. I didn't expect that and I'm wondering what it was that I unplugged.

Your jeep is different than mine. It probably uses 2 different modules for keyless entry and light time out. If you do a net search with description of where its located you may figure out what that module is for.

@@BigFrogs4x4 Update: I found a broken 10-guage wire in the wiring harness under the boot near the front passenger door hinge. I spliced it back together with some "butt splices". Now the key fob, windows, mirror adjust, and door locks work. Everything works. Great to keep an old Jeep running...especially when I bought it for $1. That's right, one (1) U.S. dollar.

I had the same problem with the door locks on my dakota. Never did solve it just disconnected the harness for the power door locks

Did you buy your Jeep Cherokee already with the keyless door entry. I just recently purchased a 97 Jeep and it has power door locks and windows but the basic old key and no remote key fob. The board you pulled out in your overhead. Panel was bad Did you have to buy a new one or solder and repair the connections? My jeep has the long console with two storage bins in it and lights for the rear passengers as well as the front. And the map and the mileage and stuff computer. I guess mine would be up there as well. I'm not having a problem, but I want to get the remote. Key fob to work with the doors. Did you buy yours with the remote key fob? I guess I need to go to the dealer to find out if it was offered. On my Jeep. Thank you. Two of your videos that help me on my ignition switch and steering wheel adjuster

Mine came with them. And yes yours should be still in the overhead. In most cases only a dealer can program the fob with no other fobs. If you had 1 fob then in some cases it can be cloned. I got a junkyard board but haven't tried to program it yet. Im not sure it can be.

Thanks For the info. I just didn't remember back in those days if they had remote. Key fobs I just haven't had a chance to look into to see if I had that circuit board or the solenoids in each of the doors in the back hatch. To see if it will work. Now if I had the solenoids and all the doors in the back hatch I have hope that It will work.

Mine doesn't do that specifically when you hit a bump or close a door really hard they will flicker off and on the shop said it was a wire under the carpet touching the frame but I don't believe that now that I see this. Mine has keyless entry but lost the clicker who knows how long ago that could be my issue I'm gonna investigate thanks. 1995 jeep cherokee country. Can I just rip out the board?

I don't need the keyless entry the people probably lost it before I was born but does it just run the keyless entry or does it control other stuff? Because I'm tired of it and I wanna just rip the board out and leave it just wondering if that's do a-ble

I took mine out and it only affected the keyless entry. Mine is a 2001

Ok so I have a 2008 dodge charger and the interior lights stays on. Once I open up my door and start up my car my interior lights stays on while driving and while just sitting there they will not go out unless I turn the car off. And with that it turns off when the 10 min goes by. What could possibly cause that to happen

That sounds like you have a door switch not working. It thinks the door is open part way. Or the interior switch to turn on the lights is stuck on. Is it all the interior lights? The reason it turns off after 10 min is because the body control module is timing out and shutting off battery draws.

@@BigFrogs4x4 yes it's all the lights. Now when I dont turn the car on. If I turn the doom lights switch on. It would go off and on upon turning. Only when i start the car it would stay on. Making me to have drive around with my interior lights staying on

Hum...good problem. If you have access to a scan tool that has live data you can monitor which switch is on and off.

I'm almost positive the rear hatch switch is built into the latch. You will need to remove the back cover on the hatch and gain access to the wires. I think if you simply unplug it the switch will read as an open switch and the jeep won't know the hatch is open or closed. You may find a new one on line to install. But i never searched for 1

OH YES! Well the interior lights staying on is. Most of the time it is a door jam switch or a malfunction in the headlight switch. But in my case and judging by people on forums it could also be the remote circuit board. I read a tone of people testing everything and not figuring it out. So I hope my pain can help others. That's why I started this channel. To help people. My wife told me "if you have to fix it you might as well film it to help others". Editing some videos is very time consuming but if it helps someone it is worth it.
