Jeep CJ-7 I bought for 500$

Barn find. Purchased this from a retired guy who did not want his son to have it. I have wanted one since i helped restore a Scrambler back in 1990. Go figure I’d end up with one in Japan. It sat in storage for 19 years.

I just bought an 82 CJ7, in N.C. so far, quite happy with the way it runs and sounds. I like the straight sixes.

My old 1986 began running like crap too. I did everything to try to fix it. Rebuilt the carb, change the hoses. Then a mechanic pointed it out. I had a crack in the intake manifold. Well this was in 1994 and we had no internet to find parts and Jeep wanted $800 just for the manifold . It had 157,000 miles on it and I was getting married so I sold it. Worse decision I ever made. I own a Wrangler JL but there is something very special about a CJ.

Intake is aluminum. Might have been able to weld and repair the crack.

Wasn’t a normal seller I picked it up from. Nice old guy who knew I wouldn’t sell it sold it to me so his son wouldn’t sell it
