We bought our '86 Scrambler from Collins Brothers when we lived in Garland. Hauled it to Utah, drove it several years, then sold it. Loved that Jeep and now we wonder why, why why did we sell it? Would love to have another.

These Scrambler videos are hard to watch. My 83 CJ8 Laredo was bobbed by the previous owner back in the late 90s and turned into a rock-crawler. It is mean off-road, but would be so much more valuable if it was stock.

Has anyone every swapped the motor out of a willys “jeep” and if so what was used? I have one that someone ruined by rhino lining the whole thing white and the original engine was been rebuilt a few times before I ended up with it and even when it’s running perfect it could use at least double the horsepower the original engine is capable of making?

I know a gent who really, really wanted a Scrambler in his youth but could not afford one back then. Years later he's a very wealthy man with a collection of cars and trucks that he commissioned to suit his tastes and sometimes his sense of humor. None of his vehicles left the factory equipped as they are today. In the late 1990s he decided he was going to have a Scrambler even if he had to have one built....So he did! He had a four door Jeep converted into what he calls a "Scrambler II" (picture the Jeep Gladiator). IF you didn't know better you might think he had managed to purchase a prototype Gladiator OR one of a Scrambler that never saw the light of day as a production vehicle. His "Scrambler II" has a five speed manual, is of course 4X4, is powered by a "robust" rebuilt AMC era 304cid engine that has been converted to fuel injection, and has both soft and hard tops. Of his "I just wanted one." vehicles the oddest may be his 4X4 Geo Metro even though the 2015 Mini he had converted into a pickup with four wheel drive that he often uses to haul feed around his farm for his cattle that looks the strangest in my humble opinion. All of his vehicles are road legal, registered and insured and he takes turns driving them with his wife.

@@51-FS where did you get the number 27 from is there any articles on it ? The ski rack is long gone . @@51-FS ive never seen the rack in person . Its all word of mouth from my grandpa. *incomeing story of the life of this jeep* In 81 a doctor in Pennsylvania bought the jeep at 800 miles he laid the jeep on its side. He had a sketchy body shop fix it (didnt tell insurance) and traded it in for a wagoneer. My grandpa bought it drove it for years then gave it to my dad. It sat so he gave it to his uncle. Prior to the uncle having it it was always washed and trans fluid sprayed on the undercarriage then undercoat on top to seal it in. Once a year doing that kept the jeep rock solid for a nothern jeep. My grandpa also hole sawed holes on body channels and even the rear crossmember to flush the frame with water. Well the uncle beat the shit outa the jeep and 2nd gear was raspy and it rusted and even 2 springs broke. My grandpa towed it down to Florida it sat so he towed it to Wisconsin gave it back to my dad. Him and my older Bother fixed up but then my brother sucked at driving so my dad took it and drove it. Eventually it sat even though it ran fine but started to rust again so my dad gave it to my brother inlaw who dropped a 360 in it cause the timing chain jumped a tooth and he wanted a v8. He lifted it put wheels and tires on it. Well it sat again plus he put a t170 in it (originally had a sr4 that was going bad) well 1st gear was like 2nd gear so he gave it to me well i put a nos t176 in it then his used 360 blew so i put a brand new long block in it and its my daily now. Eventually i wanna pull the body and restore the jeep 100%. But im a broke 17 year old so that will have to wait till i get my other 1982 jeep cj7 on the road. That one is a basket case but it has a fiberglass body and a 5 speed. Was and is fix the jeep i currently drive (the 81) then fix the 82 jeep then pull the 81 off the road cause it needs body work pretty bad. Frame is rock solid still though from all the oil my grandpa would spray under it. All the cj jeeps up here the frame rotted away after 10 to 20 years but mine is 39 years strong 💪
