a place called Brennan’s garage makes a really cool bolt on adapter plate so you can chuck suzuki or Geo disc brakes right on. My 30 year old daughter bought them for me after hearing the story about me selling my ‘72 Cj5 when she was born and i had just bought a ‘74 that im working on now.

My childhood memories of running down the interstate at night in dad's Jeep with two foot flames coming out the side pipes. I thought it was pretty average.

Boy I'd live to have a jeep but they are crazy high with price gouging going on. Heck two years ago a decent old jeep was high. With all my medical issues, on top of the pricing, I've had this year this dream has gotten further away. Glad to see gears again, thanks Stacey.

Stacey this is the best video I have seen of cj5 convertion. You are the best host. Mi 77 cj5 has 4 drum brake, non power brakes and same steering wheel. The only thing I want to change is my seat. I want one with self suspenssion like you see in trucks. I am 67 and feel enough to drive with 4 non power drum brakes and steering wheel, but my cervical ernia wants a soft seat (cushiom). I hope you can help me to solve this matter. From Venezuela. Pedro

Cool video. I just finished all this on my wife's 1980 cj5 last month. The 4 speed and the transfer case both leak. So, that will be the next thing to pull and redo. If yours leaks I'd like to see a video on that.

@OfficialStaceyDavid Жыл бұрын
We got a direct fit tilt column from ididit, but it's direct fit for '76 and up. Ididit and Flaming River are both big steering column companies, so check them out!

What exhaust did you install? I didn’t much talked about on this and it’s in the description? I have an 80 CJ5 and want to install the same exhaust please share!

Not gonna get into my history with AMCs. Too long and varied. I will tell ya about a '79 CJ-5 a guy at Church rebuilt in his basement garage years ago. 304/3sp. The only exhaust that was available at the time was the side pipes. He didn't like that so he cut up and made his own. Lifts were limited too so he modified one down to the height he wanted. He spent 3 years tinkering and fiddling to get it how he wanted. Wasn't a hard core trail rig. Just a nice Daily that wouldn't dump him in the woods on his property. Problem arose when he went to register it. Because of the limited resources of the time, by the time he was finished, the Laws had changed. Now, 30+ years later, I doubt it would pass NC's inspection. Even though they wouldn't put a sniffer on it, they do do a visual inspection. If it isn't there and it was originally, you fail. Ran into that problem with my '76 Malibu. Put a Cat back on it but they still failed it because the AIR pump wasn't on it. The '70's were really strange for emissions. My '76 didn't come with an AIR pump. We knew for a fact it didn't because it was bought new by my Ex-wife's family plus based off of the buildsheet, all it came with was a Cat.

I am a guy that's all about the ladies! My 1980 CJ7 attracts more women than todays sports cars! Original muscle cars attract about the same amount. What's greater than that is, "I HATE CHRYSLER" every show I go to or anytime I'm wheelin' especially in Moab, my 7 will have all the candy hanging around mine and very few will be looking at the Chrysler's. 😎
