Definitely needs gears with 40’s or you are never getting on the highway. You probably aren’t seeing 7th or 8th gear at all. It doesn’t matter which model if you credit the transmission for not needing gears. I’m sure it’s livable up to 55mph or 6th gear. Any mild grade and that 3.6 is screaming at 3,000 or more rpm.

This video has solidified my buyer’s remorse of leasing a 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road back in November! I actually took both the JLU and Gladiator for a test drive before making my decision. Already knew about going Sport with max tow pkg. if looking to modify. They gave me a white Sport to test drive and it just felt kinda cheap to me. (I hate white) Also I have 3 kids and the back seat seamed a bit 90 degrees and uncomfortable. That being said, with the Taco to add anything over a 32 inch requires too much trimming and a definite re gearing. This is why I am reconsidering my decision. So in 3 years I can turn in the Taco and get an improved Gladiator instead of a first year model. Sick Build brutha!!

Good video, but there’s NO WAY you’re getting into 8th gear on the freeway- probably not getting into 7th much either. My Mojave has 37s with 4.10 and doesn’t get into 8th gear much, if it does it has zero power

When it comes to 40s, just because you can doesn't mean you should. lol It's you're Jeep and it's whatever you want to do with it. If it's just a mall crawler then it will be ok for a while, but eventually the mass of those tires will start wearing stuff out sooner than later. Even with 37s people should be upgrading things like ball joints and among other things, but if you're careful and aren't doing hooligan shit these newer Jeeps will handle more than the JKs for sure. Nice Jeep, good luck with it.

Since you don’t care for the leds and extra stuff, we can trade trucks. Mines a month old, 1400 miles. Mines a basic rubicon. We can transfer the tow package over, your lift kit and wheels over. And I’ll pay you the extra amount/ the difference in price: $1500 for the 8.4, $900 for leds, and $550 for bedliner. And I’ll do all the labor transferring. You’ll still have same exact black rubicon truck and $3100 in your pocket. ;)

Im actually on my 3rd Gladiator, all three on 40's with stock 4.10 gears.. ive managed to put 40k miles on the first 2 gladiators with no issues at all other than poor MPG 13 MPG but honestly i was only getting 16MPG on stock wheels so guess i have heavy foot. Im now on my third gladiator and love it. i should mention the 2020 models have an aluminum steer gear (power steering box) that flexes causing loose steering. My 2021 and 2022 came with the new cast iron (stiff) gear box so problem solved.

No for two reasons. 1. i drive it in Manual mode on the highway and keep it in 5th or 6th depending on incline so i keep it in the power band, as soon as i hit traffic or city streets i shift it back into auto. 2. I just traded my gladiator in for a wide body challenger and as soon as I did i noticed they had it on sale for $52,000 with 34,000 miles LMAO i only paid 45,000 and spent about 5k in mods so who ever bought it got ripped off. I plan on getting the 392 gladiator next year if it comes out

Lmao as soon as you said no regear needed, you lost my attention and trust. You’re stressing your drivetrain horribly. Idc what you say about the 8 speed and 4:10’s. It needs 5.13 minimal. 4.88 is ok but not optimal. Your jt looks nice but not regearing and 40’s is an absolutely horrible idea and bad advice to give to others

Good info, do you have a source for the shock extension? I have the New Mojave and it's seems a shame to replace brand new Fox bypass shocks I'm at a cross between shelling out 3-5K on a EVO lift or doing this route. hey Gladiation- I know you've sold it now but man i'd like your longterm review of it. I have the same lift NOT installed yet. Trying to decide on tires. My JK was a nightmare w/ 3.73 and 35s w/ no power and tranny shifting back and forth. I have the same 4.10s as you. I'd hate to go right back to the feeling of the JK by going too big. But the 3.6 is soooo much better than that old 3.8 and like you said the trans is so much better. Your video is intriguing because i've gotten hate for considering 38s w/ the dana 44s and 4.10s much less going 40s. At the end of the day is it as easy as committing to manually shift to make it doable?? I won't go past 38s but thinking anything over 35 there's compromises.
@gladiation6615
@gladiation6615 3 жыл бұрын
Actually I bought another one, 2021, I installed the same lift and tires and love it. 4:10 gears are stronger than 5:13 since there is more metal on metal (Teeth) contact with pinion/ring. Plenty of power, way more than my jK had even with running 40's. Only advice is if you are on the highway shift the transmission into manual mode and find a gear of your liking especially when you tow a trailer since there is no tow haul mode button. Around town I leave tranny in auto and its fast so I'm pleased
