Does show how much smoother the control is with lockers engaged. Also a good demonstration of just how capable Jeep’s are even without lockers!

I was all twisted up in on some large boulders out in Joshua Tree just idling up and over things when both axles had articulated enough with the sway bar disconnected where It started to spin the opposite corner tires. Stopped, flipped the f/r axle locker switch, and continued to just idle out of it. Could the traction control system have worked to get me out? sure, but I was so close to rocks on both sides that If it slid over I would have damaged my truck. Amazingly capable stock. Cant wait to get my lift, bumper, and winch on. Thanks for the video.

I owned a Sport S JK without lockers and I honestly never needed them. Had a friend with a Rubicon and when the discussion came up about adding lockers to my Sport he said he used his once just to try them out, but never needed them. Now we live in Florida so we aren't doing hardcore rock crawling either. If I was living out west and was able to go to places like Moab then I would want lockers I'm sure, but I think the stock Jeeps are more capable than people think they are. The limited slip diffs and the traction control are never going to be as good as a direct 1 to 1 mechanical link, but if you do your part and pick the right line they do pretty well. I'm currently looking at Gladiators and price is a huge issue. I simply can't afford a Rubicon, but getting a Sport S might be doable. Living where I do I won't bother with lockers for a while. I might even just put a rear locker on it and be done.

I agree. I've been off-roading since I was 16 and I've never owned a rig with lockers. And I never needed them. I've rock crawled up here in SC, NC, and TN and also hit trails back home in FL. Never had an issue. Get the right tires, find your line, and learn how to maneuver. And you're right, stock jeeps are more capable that people think they are. Learn how to use what you have and you can become a champ!

You definitely need lockers on both ends if you are serious. They make a massive difference.

If you plan to wheel out this way you will need lockers. Florida is no comparison for off-roading. It’s mostly mud and and I’m sure.

Lockers make a world of difference, it’s not that you can’t make it work without them, they just make things easier. It’s like running iron sights vs a scope. You still need solid fundamentals but the scope will get you more.

I love how people show these "demonstrations" of lockers vs non and dont stay on the throttle when the brake lock diff starts to kick in. If you would have kept a steady throttle the brake lock would have pulled you out.

All you need is to install a ARB or other type of locker in the front. You don't need a Rubicon, I have a Jeep Mohave with ARB Locker installed in front running a 40 tires no problems at all.

The diffs are open on the gladiator (unless you get the Sport/Overland with the Trac-Lok rear diff) or unless you engage the locker on the Rubicon model. As far as I know all Wranglers/Gladiators use BLD (brake lock diff) tech to lock up the brakes on any wheel that's lost traction to force the wheel on the opposite side of the axle to keep spinning. In order for this to work though, you need to keep giving continuous throttle which isn't being done in this vid (almost started doing it on the obstacle at 2:10 mark in this video). If you make another, test that out.

This. Every time the BLD was about to engage and crawl, they let off and switched to lockers.

While one can do a great deal with skill and proper driving technique, there are situations where lockers vastly increase capability and safety margins.
