Jeep Gladiator - Rubicon Suspension Upgrade - Part 1

Hey everyone!
Glad to be back after a while. I finally got to part one of my Sport S suspension upgrade. I have never done suspension before so be kind in the comments. :) I'm proud of it and am happy how it turned out.

Knocked out the fronts on my Overland yesterday. Overall went pretty smooth. Your videos although broken up quite a bit, definitely helped nonetheless.

Did you only need to add the springs and shocks? I’ve been told everything else between trims is the same when upgrading to Rubicon suspension like end links etc.

Are the springs necessary to put on, i just have the shocks and i have a stock lift on a 2020 sport s??

Hi great video , are the shocks corner specific as well as the coils I’m doing this and I found the part numbers for the coils online but can not find anything on if the shocks themselves should be specifically located left to right?

Thanks for that man. The shocks aren’t. It’s just front and rears. Send me your numbers (or just Google) which are front and which are rear.

What size (tons) jack stands did you use. Im wonder if 3 tons and a 3 ton jack would be sufficient? Also about what height did you set the jacks at? Wondering since I’ve seen others have to jack the whole front up and do both sides of the front simultaneously to get enough droop for the springs to drop. However it looks like you did one side at a time with at least one wheel on the ground. Watched another video where the guy couldn’t get the spring off sitting on jack stands with a wood block. Ended up having jack up and drop the drop the other side to get enough room.

Hey Sarge! I used 6 ton jack stands with a 3 ton jack. Height was just a guess, but I had to adjust them to get what I needed for the full droop. Yes, I think one side at a time is the way to go...at least with a jack and jack stands. I'm assuming you're tackling this project as well?

Did the springs give you anything. I was advised against the rubicon springs from my local lift shop as they did that swap and it was the same height. I just went spacers and the take off rubi shocks instead ?

I have a Overland, I swapped out the shocks but when I was about to the springs, I had the rubicons and my overland side by side and my overlands were actually about half an inch taller so I left it on. Do you know which rubicon springs are the tallest?

Thanks for the message but unfortunately I’m not sure honestly. I do know there are even multiple Rubicon shocks as well…based on model year and factory options due to weight etc. I wish I could help more

There's no difference in the springs. All rubi springs are the same. Check the part numbers

The spring ends on your replacement are gray.. did you get the diesel take offs or is your jeep a diesel?

I was told they were taken off a Rubi gasser.

Tried slowing the video and zooming but couldn’t read the part numbers on the coils. Gonna hold off and do the shocks and leveling kit for now. Great video though thanks!

Stiffer...but not bad. Bumps aren't felt as much.
