Being the least mechanically inclined person on KZbin… I tried it and BOOM! Bulb changed. Discovered that on the 2021, the cap wasn’t a screw cap but more like a snap in place cover. If I can do it, anyone can. Thanks brother!

Success for the engineering dept lol. They design new vehicles to be nearly impossible for the do it yourselfer. They don’t even have a dipstick for the tranny, they hope you’ll never service or check it so it’ll blow on you and you’ll buy a new vehicle that’s even harder to work on.

@@ticallianstallion9328 I feel your pain. It was a while ago already and I only remember it just taking forever and multiple attempts to manage to line up the bracket. I found the right angle to get my hand in and then just had to mess with it until it fit in perfectly. Check the grooves on the light and do your best to get it in by lining it up the best you can before going in. It will go, just takes time. I still can't believe how hard they made this. I also have small hands. If larger hands, it may be almost impossible.

FYI, if you have HID bulbs, they do not "twist out" there is a arm/tab/lever that you have to release, then the bulb pulls out straight, do not twist

Able to change drivers side with your tips. I made a tool out of pvc pipe to get enough torque. I had to pull off the bumper and remove the headlight housing to change the passenger side.

I couldn't change anything even with this tip. FINNALY I managed to change those bulbs via factory opening in wheelwell but only with 3d printed custom wrench/adaptor. So if you can't do that this way, try 3d printed wrench.

I have a 2018 grand Cherokee and the bulb doesn't just twist like normal. It appears to have some sort of locking ring around the bulb that's giving me fits, especially since my hands are large..

The key for the passenger side: go through the wheel well. Get a finger or two on the plug part of the bulb and pull down to TWIST THE BULB counter clockwise and it pops right out. This is the third video I’ve watched and no one has explained that critical step.

It shouldn’t be any different as long as they are halogens. The hid beams are a little larger and have different connections but basically the same process to access them.

I find it best to go up through the wheel well to loosen the passenger side bulb, you can get a finger on it to loosen it, then take it out through the top

High beams are closer to the center of the car lows are on the outside. Same housing I don’t think the hi beams have a cap covering them though can’t remember

Try going through the wheel well on the passenger side. I’ve also heard people using an open end wrench on them. Not sure what size. Good luck!

I used a rag to get better leverage on the bulb housing to get it loose. Make sure you’re going counter clockwise (pushing down on it) to get it out.

It's Humiliating but I had to take it to a local shop because my hands were cut up and bleeding, I miss my WJ when all it took was an 8mm bolt and 3 pop clips. something is seriously wrong with engineers who designed this@@KurtofTrades

In the dealership now I ain’t about to do it myself 😂 also the way the set these cars up now is so dumb. The nicest and easiest ride at our house is a 2004 Silvarado. Just turn the latch and the whole headlight comes out in like 3secs😂

Its NOT that easy trist me, spent 5 hours trying, getting those boxes out of the way is not hard, but the low beam is in a tube, this tibe has the bulb several inches inside this tube, i have normal size hands and i could not get my hand in deep enough to the bulb, almost need a little kid size hand, what he is showing is no way close to reality

If you can get the boxes out of the way it shouldn’t be hard to reach the bulb even with big hands. The passenger side is a lot more difficult for sure, but this is the easiest way

There’s no way you actually changed the bulb on this vehicle. It’s one thing to demonstrate how it’s supposed to be done, it’s a whole other thing to actually do it. This is one of the worst designs to replace a simple part I have ever seen. And, I was in the middle of changing out my driver’s front fender so I had the wheel liner out and the air box. There is no way to get a man sized hand in the area provided while also being able to get enough torque to twist the bulb. You need Martian fingers to do this.

The best way to get the passenger side bulb loose is to reach up through the wheel well you can get a finger on it and loosen it, then go to the top to take it out. Once you do it a few times it’s not that bad. GL
