Just pulled my factory Harmon Kardon subwoofer out to replace with a SVC 4 ohm subwoofer but found the factory subwoofer is actually a DVC 4 ohm so i'm going to return the SVC I purchased and get a DVC, for anyone wanting to upgrade just the subwoofer it's a DVC 4ohm, the depth from the front of mount to the back of box before the magnet cutout is 3 5/8", the mounting diameter for sub is 9 1/8", the depth from the back of the inside of the box to outside is 6 1/4" but the back of the inside of the box has a cutout for the subwoofer magnet but it isn't centered behind mounting hole. Factory sub is 10" for Harmon Kardon, 8" for Alpine. The green and red wires are positive and black and white are negative

Hey man! Did you do anything to counter the Noise canceling in the car? I really want to upgrade my 2015 summit but the whole process seems too complicated.

Been looking through forums for nearly an hour about the significance of the four wires going into the sub enclosure and how it was set up without opening mine yet, beautifully explained.

I spent way too long looking for some info for the alpine systems in the 2012-2016 models of jeep Cherokee limited/latitude ex, and found that there is a 506 watt amp and an 8 in stock sub in the back. If you are looking to replace this speaker try to find one with a mounting depth that's close to 4 inches. Also make sure it is DVC and rated under 500 watts. Good video though thanks!
@professor_chinx6996 Жыл бұрын
Does the peak wattage have to be under 500? Or just RMS?
@Glizzobase Жыл бұрын
i would say peak power but i would still keep the rms power under 500 just to be safe @@professor_chinx6996

Is the new sub higher sensitivity?? If not and without adding a separate amp your new sub won’t do shit.

@@MagnumO it's a 10-in sub and not much of a difference in sound mainly because of the enclosure. It's just mainly for people that blow that sub and need to replace it. Without changing the enclosure or factoring amplifier it's not going to really change the sound much

Good video guys. Fellow SRT Cherokee owner and electrician by trade. Good work, way to use the meter. I always was curious about fitting something better in there but I’d want to throw a few more watts at it so I never bothered. What does the factory amp push for RMS at the sub? Like 300?

The 19 speaker Harmon Kardon system is so pitifully weak. The 10 speaker alpine system stomps all over it
@frostbite19912 жыл бұрын
Yea they def have amplifier issues. Been reading up on it, others have sporadic issues as well. I just bought a 2014 summit and my subwoofer barely makes any noise. The front speakers produce 95% of the bass. Turn the fader to rear and nothing, but if I put my ear to the sub I can hear a tiny bit of bass. For whatever reason the amp is cutting power to the subwoofer. maybe a VC died, IDK. I'm going to tear it apart and see what's up, might throw my amp on the OE sub to see if it can still kick or not. If I cant revive that sub, I'll put an aftermarket in driven by my Alpine amp.
@loyalkbrown92612 жыл бұрын
@@frostbite1991 I have the same issue. What ended up beeing?
@frostbite19912 жыл бұрын
@@loyalkbrown9261 Basically, amp is crap, it doesn't recognize the sub so it keeps the sub output shut off. I ended up grabbing a Kicker 125 watt 2 channel and a Panasonic 10" woofer that barely fit in the box. Wired them up, tapped into rear 12V socket for amp power (amplifier draws maybe 8-10 amps before sub clips, so the wiring is perfectly capable of powering it). Amp turns on with input signal, which I grabbed from front left door speaker output. It hits pretty good now, gets plenty low for a 120 watt sub.
