Wow that exhaust-pipe-over-the-plug design is just genius.

I just changed the differential fluid in my 2013 JKU yesterday. I told my wife the reason I took the fill plug out first was I would have a downed vehicle if I couldn't refill. None of the auto stores near me have manual transmission fluid. Waiting until Sunday for delivery of the MTF. Great and to the point video. This certainly isn't my dad's memory of changing the fluid on one of his manual vehicles. He went into detail about how he had to remove screws and such to replace the fluid. He is also the reason as to why I may find metal shards in my transmission fluid.

Yeah, always take the fill plug out first 😁 it was difficult finding the correct fluid 👍👍

You can also press the Allen head out of the socket base, instead of cutting it short. I use a deep socket and my bench vise. When it’s a bit longer you can usually use 2 wrenches for hard to crack plugs. Learned this trick back with my XJ when the oil filter adapter starts leaking oil. Oil Adapter is jammed against the motor mount on the XJs.

Wish I thought of that :) Great tip!

Thank you sir, I've already misplaced that 17mm widget...haha

@@FMCOverland lol, man I watched about two or more videos where guys where removing the exhaust pipes etc. Didn't take me but a min to figure out I would be punching that 17mm hex out of the socket and using a wrench

Are you supposed to run the Jeep a little to thin out the fluid? My concern w/ that is burning myself on that exhaust pipe.
@FMCOverland Жыл бұрын
I've heard that and I have heard not to do that, I like to do it on a warm day before the first start of the Jeep, if you change the fluid as required the fluid comes out just fine

I just let it drain over the pipe and then cleaned it with Brake Kleen
