...if your car has a radiator cap, then the process is the same...add the coolant through the radiator. Remove the radiator cap when bleeding the air out of the system....better idea? Please comment. ThankU.

thank you so much for this video! it's just me and my autistic son here. You made it simplistic enough for anyone to do - even us! Appreciate all your tips right down to the prices. : D

Actually you have done a great job replacing those parts. You saved well over $1500.00 by doing this job yourself. With the money saved, spend $50 to $100 on yourself.

He makes a good point about doing this yourself and knowing it was done right. The worst thing an independent shop can do is put old, silicated IAT green coolant into a modern vehicle. These modern, OAT extended life coolants like Oreilly Universal are absolutely excellent. I've used these in many different makes and models for over a decade with no issues whatsoever. The inside of the radiator and cooling systems on all these cars are absolutely pristine, even letting the coolant go as long as 8 years. I encourage everyone to drain their coolant now and install an extended life universal coolant ASAP.

Great video, I have the same model and you can bleed the air out of the system with that Allen head bolt located on the right front side on the top side just behind the radiator, while running turn the Allen plug but not fully remove and when you stop seeing bubbles all the air has been removed

While draining with a water hose do I need to add antifreeze in with the water? Or does the antifreeze only go in after the flush? Also you said something about flushing the radiator so I need to remove the cover over the radiator while flushing? Please let me know !
Жыл бұрын
Yes you remove the radiator cap while flushing. You flush with water only. The antifreeze jug has instructions.

not sure why you would need to cut your heat on - there is no form of electric or vacuum valve control for the flow of coolant to the heater core so fluid is flowing at all times through the heater core.

I found somewhere it's antifreeze/coolant capacity is about 13L but I drained only about 8L, I refill and drained over and over, and I couldn't fill 13L, the engine is a 3.7L...what am I missing? Thanks!
3 жыл бұрын
You said you drained out 8l out of 13 litters...so drive the vehicle and check the coolant level...if it needs additional refill then add coolant...
@johncross436
@johncross436 2 жыл бұрын
I agree this is strange - i have the same situation here - i removed the bottom hose and thermostat - blew air through the heater core and radiator and it still only holds 8L. I have driven plenty and had no reason to add more and no issues with overheating. If you find something more on this please post.

It's not that hard. Buy your Pan big enough to hold two gallons, a funnel to pour anti freeze/coolant. About six quarts of coolant. You can search what kind your car uses. Make sure your engine is not hot when you do this. It's satisfying to know you did it yourself. Process with changing oil is the same, with one exception, it has an oil filter and with oil.

Why does the right side of container look so much cleaner than the left, I ask because I just did all this on your video but none of the antifreeze went to the right side, what am i doing wrong, or does non of the liquid go to that side?
3 жыл бұрын
I don't understand what you mean " none antifreeze went to the right side" regarding the dirty side of the container it was due dirty antifreeze. If the vehicle is level, the antifreeze must be balanced in the container. Or what do you mean by the right side?
@ravay78

@ravay78 3 жыл бұрын
On your video the right side of the container looks clean, well mine right now looks green on left side and just white on the right. No liquid on the right
3 жыл бұрын
The container is just dirty. Liquid is liquid; it takes the shape of the content it is in... To ensure it has antifreeze, just let the engine run with the reservoir or container with the cap off. Then you will see the antifreeze boiling up when it gets hot. Or use a flashlight to better see inside the reservoir...
@luispech3735
@luispech3735 3 жыл бұрын
The right side its just a deposit to prevent overpressure, liquid will go to it when engine is very hot and pressure push the liquid to it, that side is normally empty or with very low level, unless engine very hot.

Sweden. I have the same Jeep Liberty and it uses HOAT Anti Freeze. I managed to mix it with DEX and now my hoses and three year old radiator is leaking. Not too smart of me.
4 жыл бұрын
Hoses leaking: it is common for any old car. If they leak at the joints, it is an easy fix if not buy the hose. Radiator leaking: also common for any old car. You can either buy a cheap radiator or add stop leak to control the leak. Stop leak is not the best option though. I would do stop leak instead of a radiator replacement unless all the hoses have to be replaced.
4 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4LXemqfr7eFnsk I used stop leak in this video and it works for me and the radiator.

3 жыл бұрын
...yes so the radiator can bleed the air out of the system. That will also enable you to add antifreeze if it is getting low. You only close it when it starts to boil over-"too hot...God damn..."

@@DJ-fl2xf He’s being sarcastic. You’re still dividing it up to mix half and half with water. Therefore you’re not getting more of anything. The only time you should ever put more concentrate in the vehicle than water is during winter. Less of a chance of having lines freeze that way. I would look up specs on that, however. Every vehicle is different.
@DJ-fl2xf
@DJ-fl2xf 3 жыл бұрын
@@rosebud10123 u must be slow.. I never said to put concentrate directly into the vehicle.... A jug of 50/50 costs $13 and u get one gallon to use... Full concentrate costs $15 and once u mix it into 2 containers with water you end up with 2 gallons of 50/50 for $15...the difference between having the water premixed and mixing the water yourself is double 😉
