As the owner of a 2007 Liberty Sport, I find this video somewhat difficult to watch. I am having the front differential replaced (it's in the shop right now!) due to a leak caused by hitting a rather hard piece of granite on a gnarly rocky road at 10,00 feet in the Sierra Nevada range in California. $1,356.00 . I'm so proud of my Liberty! Best vehicle I've ever owned and I'm her original owner!

If you didn't know... tire chains, like for snow, work very well, offroad, over street tires. Actually better than a Very aggressive offroad tire... until you get into high flotation tires with big rims and lots of horsepower! @unit2224 Жыл бұрын
"full time" is for "full time use" as in AWD option. use that in the snow. "Part time" locks the center diff, so your axles are locked together. Driving like that on high traction surface like concrete will slowly tear your drive line apart.

well the idea of going to these small mud hole trails is to improve the skill. and if you avoid pushing the limits, then you will never get better. when we take an overland trip, game changes, and getting stuck is something that we try to avoid in order to enjoy the trip.
@Truth-and-the-life8 жыл бұрын
Martin Sa Tan Then my suggestions still stands. Running racing slicks in the mud, to me, makes no sense. Yes it's fun. However, setting up you Jeep for success is key. I take care of my equipment and off roading, as you know, puts a big strain your rig. 3.7 have valve seat issues and unless you have corrected this problem, your engine will not last long. Most have a valve problems between 130-160k miles.

I hade a discovery tdi years ago, it was better at more agricultural applications, before that has a swb Nissan patrol with lift kit and little wheels and huge tyres. It was much better at off road stuff than the discovery. I was just curious whats the best jeep roughly this size. I,d love to hear my US cousins opinion on it, you,s have the greatest off road scene and following anywhere in the world. Allways been a big fan of cj7, cj5, 80,s trailblazer and cherokee.. I want to emigrate south now I'm middle aged. Id live the dream in my shack, I'll need a rusty old 4x4 truck for logistics, maybe a big old gmc. But I'd need a day to day jeep for transport, I'm not worried about flashy rubbish even though my top choice would be a cj7 golden eagle. Or a cj7 with a 460 motor

@unit22247 жыл бұрын
yes, you can. in fact libby in the video is very close to stock model. all you have to do is be gentle over bumps, and keep the momentum. just bare in mind, that 4x4 is not actually four wheel drive. its more like 2.5 wd. so when you have in it 4Lo position wheel with least traction will be the one that spins on each axle.

Martin Sa Tan nope. I got my 2006 tj used. It already had 4" lift and 33" tires. 3.73 gears. Driving it on the highway caused it to overheat because the overdrive is a .67/1 ratio. The previous owner did not use the overdrive off button and it overheated the trans.
@unit22248 жыл бұрын
The Car Life 3.73 on 33"s is a problem. normally its up to 30". for 33"s Id recommend at least 4.1 if its skinny tire, if its fat and heavy 4.56 would be ideal. its actually simple math.

@unit22247 жыл бұрын
Michael Marquez You seem to missuderstand t case options for these Jeeps. This particular one has nv241. Which is stronger version of nv231j. Both of these t case variants had same options and no differential in the t case. ( No 4hi full time option) that means whenever 4wd is engaged, both drive shafts will spin at the same speed. At the time of this adventure, Jeep still had open diffs with at front and rear axles. That is why you see it struggling. Only nv242j t case has 4wd full time option, and it would be even more useless in this situation.

Actually no. The part of the trail he's on, has very deep ruts. every time we get out there, first jeep always gives that side a go just for the hell of it.
