For the oil filter I use a large red beer cup. Wrap it around the filter and untighten it- the oil dripping out will be caught by the cup and not run down your arm.

I have a 2011 and it has a splash guard under there.... interesting that yours doesn't. I don't want to buy ramps but the splash guard won't allow me to get under there comfortably.

They normally come with the splash shield, believe its held on by a few easy to remove clips. Mine didn't have it when i bought mine. Thanks for watching!

I have the same vehicle and i dont need to use jacks or ramps ever, jus go under the truck with all wheels on the ground. I never use a oil filter wrench on it either, i just turn it with my right hand and its off!

I like to use 4 ramps to keep the vehicle level for draining and checking full dipstick level.

If you are more concerned about it draining you'll use two ramps in the front because the drain plug sits to the rear of the pan which will make sure that all the oil comes out, I don't get your logic with using four ramps but it seems kind of defective to me. Maybe it's time to take your meds or stop at the pharmacy and pick up your lunch

You only add 4.5 quarts of oil. Which is 4.26litres. Adding 5 quarts is overfilling the oil.

Basic rule of thumb for me on the plug is tighten by hand, then tighten with an open end wrench about 1/4 turn to ensure it's tight

I switched to synthetic forever ago (multiple cars) and have been using it ever since. Walmart has 5 quart containers for literally only about a dollar more. Synthetic filter is only a couple extra bucks, but then (w/ synthetic oil and synthetic filter) you get to go a lot longer between oil changes. So... absolutely worth it.
