NGK uses a coating on the threads of the plugs that is the anti-sieze. If you use grease it changes the torque spec.

Cool video... thanks. A bit of advice though. Don't leave the screws above the open holes where the spark plugs were, .. Just think if they hot bumped and bounced down into the combustion chamber of the motor!... (oh, that would never happen).. Also... dielectric grease on the coil packs to spark plugs is an awesome corrosion prevention and positive connection, it helps disassembly the next time the coil packs come off as well.....

I think those spark plugs come with a special coating on them so they aren't supposed to be lubricated. Could be wrong but pretty sure.

I've changed my spark plugs & coil packs. Jeep is still shaking, any suggestions?? I was able to move the wire at one point & it went back to normal for about 10 minutes. Is it possible that my wire harness has a shortage?
@aaronhaight226 жыл бұрын
Try cleaning or replacing your throttle body, also try getting your Jeep’s computer scanned for any codes indicating that there could be a misfire, if there’s any codes relating to that, you should be able to diagnose what the problem is.

How's the Jeep running after this spark change? And what's it gapped to as well?
@aaronhaight226 жыл бұрын
Alejandro Ivan Garibay the required gap is 0.0043 it’s what I showed in the video, but the Jeep is running fantastic since they’ve been changed no more stutter or jerking when accelerating the Jeep now has a nice smooth acceleration

Do you like the Patriot or Compass?. I'm thinking of getting one with 4x4. Is it reliable? How's the pick up since its just a 2.4 L engine the same used in a fiat? any input will be appreciated
@aaronhaight224 жыл бұрын
I had mine for about 3 years, it was reliable all the way until I got to about 100k miles, then was getting issues and getting costly, that’s why I sold it. My step mom had a compass, it’s the same as the Patriot but I prefer the look of the Patriot more
@Supremebean3032 жыл бұрын

I bought my 2011 Patriot North Edition brand new and it was great until about 2016 and since then have had to get the front control arms replaced twice and I've only got 58,000 kms on it. Alot of recalls were put out and there are a few things that should be recalls but Chrysler keeps dodging. Mine has been extremely reliable but apparently the steel used in the subframes are really poor quality and eventually rust right through. So, even though mine is reliable, not sure how much money I want to put in for upcoming repairs and maintenance if it's just going to rot!! I'd go with a Jeep but different model if I was you!

Just put the NGK Iridium plugs in mine drives like brand new..those oem copper plugs are only good for 30K miles then need to be changed again
@aaronhaight225 жыл бұрын
Mmetz1281 I didn’t bother to spend extra money on better plugs when you get no performance benefit, those OEM NGK Coppers are just fine, made the Jeep run brand new, I don’t mind even if I had to change them every 30k miles, easy $20 - 20 minute job lol
@Mmetz12815 жыл бұрын
@@aaronhaight22 its all Symantecs Iridium are $9 each and last 100k, copper are $3 and last 30k so to change copper 3x your still paying $9 but using your time even though its only 20 mins to change them each time
@Jeromybergman3 жыл бұрын
The E3.48 had a noticable crispar throttle response compare the the NGK Vpower plugs but with to many inconsistencies with good and bad reviews so decided to throw some Denso TT'S (4701) and she's happy now.
@RockandrollNegro2 жыл бұрын
Spark plugs have zero effect on throttle response, in a drive-by-wire configuration. Any "smoothness" you experienced after changing plugs was in your head. The only measurable difference would be in idle at zero load, and unless the previous plugs were gapped incorrectly, not even your ignition can tell the difference between copper and platinum or iridium. Literally the only reason to run platinum or iridium plugs would be in engines that are extremely difficult to change plugs in. That's when you throw in some platinums and pray that they last the 100k miles they're rated for so that you're not breaking your back and hands on a GM 3.1 motor trying to get the back three plugs out. On an engine like this 2.4 where it takes 10 minutes to change plugs, you have no excuse for running platinums.

You should always use a high temp anti seize. Spark plug manufacturers were having a problem with mechanics using WAY too much and the wrong kind of anti seize causing it to actually freeze the plug. The threads should look like there’s barely any on or a slightly darker grey hue. When torquing a spark plug that is meant to be dry torqued (ex. NGK), reduce the torque wrench by 10 percent.
@aaronhaight226 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that NGK spark plugs didn’t required any lubricant of any kind such as an anti-seize, but I didn’t know about dry torquing.
@RockandrollNegro2 жыл бұрын
NGKs should never be coated with antiseize compound. They're meant to be dry-torqued because they're meant to remain dry, genius.
