Always check to make sure the old filter gasket has remained on the filter. Two gaskets = blowing oil out all over the road.

quick tip, when you check the oil level, dont tip the dipstick with the handle down so the oil wont appear more than what it actually is

I put magnets above the drain screw & on the bottom of the filter, I'd double check mine takes 6 quarts.

thanks for reply jeep dealership said they would take a look at it on wed to see if it was leaking and to monitor how much it burns in case engine is bad

Had my engine replaced under warranty. Oil consumption issues. 22,000 miles. My new engine has been great.

does your jeep burn thru oil b 4 its oil change keep getting told by jeep its normal burns a quart of oil by 3000 miles into new change brand new 2017 bought brand new !?

Lar Jack what engine do you have? Mine burns around 0.5qt every 5000 miles.

Mine is a 2017 2.4L engine and it burn about 1qt every 2500Miles !

took it to a different dealership they said it wasn't normal And that they have been having problems with this engine and are just going to put in a new engine free of charge of course

I believe its the 2.4 the standard jeep without the bells and whistles would a heavier oil help I mean why would u make a engine that burns oil

Most of the engines burn some oil, specially newer engine. Some cars burn as much as quart of oil every 1000 miles and that's consider normal. Does your Jeep smoke? I would suggest to check crankcase vent valve, maybe it's getting stuck. I will re-check oil level in my Jeep and let you know

Car takes 5.5 q exactly. Oil need to be hot for accurate measurements. Pennzoil is the recommended oil. Must remove the old filter before putting back the drain plug, and please use some gloves.

..and never rely on the jack alone when you're underneath the vehicle. Use a JACKSTAND!

This. 5.5 and measure when 15 minutes after engine is up to operating temp which takes more than 10-20 Mins idling or 10 minutes or so driving per manual. Although they do recommend pennz, you can use any oil the meets Chrysler/fiat MS6395. AMAZON basics full synthetic is what I us as it meets that requirements. Also it's not junk oil as it has SN PLUS requirements that a lot of simar oils don't meet, just my thoughts

Trailhawk models are fitted with steel plates but Jeep was too cheap they don't have the oil filter door!
