If you can avoid wheel spacers than I would, however it will depend on what size tire you want to run. Anything bigger than a 235/65/17 will require spacers. I really wish I had the chance to see your video prior to my installation, your instructions are very helpful. I have a question for you, I previously didn’t loosen the axel nut & punch it out. Now I had the lift done almost two months now, will it be too late to do anything with it? Been experiencing some light clicking noise at my front driver side during acceleration & deceleration, no noise when I shift in neutral. I would really appreciate if you could share some light for me.
@Reediscovr4 жыл бұрын
leon tao we only loosened the nut to allow for more flexibility when reinstalling the strut. If you’ve already put everything together then I wouldn’t worry about it now. As for the clicking. What kind of lift did you do? IE. Avid with Eibach springs.
@taotao8284 жыл бұрын
North Texas Jeep Renegades Thank you for your reply. I had the 1.5” Daystar lift with the Eibach springs set up. The part that you mentioned about making the two tabs on the side of the axel nut before loosen it. I didn’t do that, can I still do something with it now to save any possible headache on replacing my cv axel? Seems like my driver side axel was making that light clicking sound, happens only during acceleration & deceleration, no noise when I switch it to neutral. Any ideas?
@Reediscovr4 жыл бұрын
leon tao the two tabs are for loosening the nut during the install. It may have been an oversight in the video but you do want to fully tighten them back down and bend the tabs back in before reinstalling the wheels. The clicking that you’re hearing sounds like your cv might be going out. Does it click while turning as well? Also check to see if you have a hole in your boot. Have you noticed any grease on the inside of your wheel, fender liners, and/or suspension components?
@taotao8284 жыл бұрын
North Texas Jeep Renegades I do very much appreciate your feedback. I know I have a lot of questions, frankly I’m not good at the mechanics of it, please bear with me & correct me if I’m wrong. Just want to narrow down the issue, mechanics wise If the cv is in fact bad and it’s making this noise by me shifting gear in neutral while my car is still in motion that sound suddenly goes away, is that normally a sign of a bad cv, right? I did check the cv & the suspension area, there isn’t any leak or tear. When I first heard the noise it only happens when I’m going straight while acceleration & deceleration. Now I’m hearing it when I turn too but not so much.
@Reediscovr4 жыл бұрын
leon tao what you’re describing to me sounds like a bad CV Axle. However, without being there and experiencing this first hand, I can’t recommend that you buy a new one. I do recommend that you take your Jeep in to a certified mechanic and update all of us here, on what they find.

with the 2" lift, what the largest size tire you can fit without rubbing on the renegade? how much body cut can I get away with if I wanted to install 33" tires? or is asking for 33" too much to ask for?
@Reediscovr4 жыл бұрын
J.t.R. JP to be honest I get asked this question a lot. I would not recommend anything over a 30.5”. The next set of tires I buy will probably be 29”-29.5”. When you go to a larger tire it changes your gearing and you lose a lot of power the bigger you go. Now this wouldn’t be an issue if we could re-gear the renegades, but that is not possible. As for rubbing, with a 2” lift the biggest tire you can go with is 29” without rubbing. If you want to go bigger then you’ll need to run wheel spacers to clear the strut tower. If you run wheel spacers you’ll have to do the pinch seam mod. If you check out our pinch seam mod video, it shows how much we took off to fit a 30.5x10 tire.

The problem isn’t the lift, it’s the clearance for the spring perch on the struts. The biggest tire you can fit without hitting it is 28.9”. Anything bigger than that and you need spacers or a good offset wheel. Once you push the tires away from the strut then you’ll have to do the pinch seam mod.
