Just finished mine today after 6 months of procrastination. It’s not a fun job but not as bad as some other videos make it out to be. The worst part of the whole job is that lower double nutted stud behind the engine. The 4.0 L straight six is probably worse than the 4 cyl engines I guess. I picked up a couple of helpful tips from your video. And was able to complete the job in about 5-1/2 hrs with a couple of coffee breaks. Thanks!

I want to thank you brother. You made the job easier for me. I had mine out and back in about 5 hours. That dadgone nut behind the valve cover though!!!!

Mine doesn't leak (yet) but a few years back I did a flush and reverse flush with the garden hose for the two heater lines and the core. It was amazing watching how much rust and junk came out of just the core. Once it ran clean one direction I swapped the hose and revere flushed it. Even more crap came out. I repeated this three times then reassembled it. Temps for the heater rose 10 degrees at the vents after the flush!!!

Just did mine based off this video. Thanks for making it. Now I gotta figure out why my air bag light is on lol its plugged in

I'm glad the video was helpful! Oddly enough, my airbag light came on a few times after mine was done too. All I did was wiggle the connector and it went out and hasn't come back... I dunno!

I did this same job, the same way on mine, and I also did a video on it. Yours is better than mine because you cover step-by-step and I generally don't do how to content (because I am an idiot). Anyone who's not mechanically experienced but willing to learn should definitely watch your video, because like I said about 300 times in my video "It's not that bad".

So if you drill out the spot welds in the bracket that’s in the way of pulling the whole frame out you don’t have to drop the steering wheel at all I just bought two screws and nyelock nuts it saves time

Thanks for the video, this is the best one I have seen and have been putting off this project for years. I think I might be ready now lol What part of NE Ohio ?
@diymechanictv1233 Жыл бұрын
It's not a terrible job, actually. It takes some time but it's not terribly difficult. Just be sure and spray your heater core and a/c evaporator down with soap and water first. I neglected that part and it was pretty smelly for a couple weeks. I'm in Wayne County. You from the area?

How did you fix that vacuum line? Mine has broke off right at that rubber bulkhead grommet and i really dont want to pull that dash to get to it from the inside. And since it broke off right at grommet i cant shrink wrap it it back together. Hoping i can just pull some of the loose vacuum line out from inside the dash maybe like a 1/4 inch, enough to be able to coffee straw/shrink tube it back together. Is there enough of the vacuum line under the dash that i could do that?
@diymechanictv12334 ай бұрын
I believe there is enough under the dash, however getting it to slip through the grommet may be difficult. I don't recall the details exactly, but you may have to pop the grommet out of the hole to slip the line through it.

Did you do the blower resistor while you were at I think I have replaced mine about every 50k and its a real PIA. Daveys Jeeps should have the windshield frame you need.
@diymechanictv12335 ай бұрын
I had just replaced the blower restsitor before this work, actually! I was able to mine fairly easily from under the dash. Ended up finding a good, used windshield and frame locally and then painting it to match. Thanks for watching and commenting!

How did you get the nut off for the cowl drain ? I can’t seem to get in there. Was going good up to this point.
@diymechanictv123310 ай бұрын
I can see where that might be hard to reach! Luckily, mine has a body lift on it, so there's extra room between the cowl and the back of the engine.

Got mine with a ratcheting wrench. A little hard to reach, but not too bad

Great in-depth quality video! How is the new core working out? I've replaced mine with Spectra/Four Seasons core couple of years ago; but, it's blowing only luke warm air. Lot of people on the forum had a same issue. So, I purchased one from Performance Radiators per forum members' recommendations. Planning to tackle the job in couple of days.
@diymechanictv1233 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! So far, I don't have any issues with the Four Seasons core aside from it stinking and creating an oily film on the windows for the first couple weeks of use (I should have washed it with soap and detergent before installation). I suspect the heat may not be quite as hot as it used to be, but it's been sufficient for NE Ohio winter which isn't exactly warm. Certainly nothinf worth removing it and starting over, in my opinion. Thanks for watching the channel!

Hi did you have to drain the coolant and the refrigerant ?
@diymechanictv123310 ай бұрын
Refrigerant, yes. Coolant, no. I lost maybe a quart of coolant in the heater core, but didn't drain the radiator.
