Mark. Thanks or the video. I bought one of these kits on your recommendation and installed it the same way however I ran into an issue while rock crawling. The tire was located to low for the departure angle so it would drag being that low. My Jeep does have a 1" body lift and im running 35" tires. I ended up having to install the offset brackets to resolve that issue. I did love that the tire was lower but if you do extreme off road stuff then people might think about installing the brackets. I absolutely love the carrier it's solid and it keeps the weight off the tailgate. It's a super clean look I would highly recommend it too. Thanks again for all your videos.

Very Interesting. I’ve not had this happen as of yet, even conquering water falls. I was on a side trail near little Moab Utah where I had the whole Jeep resting against the spare tire because I slipped into an awkward position. That was years ago. No damage and still works the same as new. Every Jeep is a it different with the different bumpers/mods. The cool thing about this tailgate, in my opinion, is that there is enough there to customize it to your needs without needing to buy a bunch of extra parts. I’m glad you enjoy the videos, it means a lot when viewers give their input to me. Thank you very much! This channel is nothing without you.

I’m sure you’ll love it! Luckily the video shows you all the issues you might have with in regards to tire spacing. What size tire are you running?
@mikem21794 жыл бұрын
So you think a 37 inch tire will fit back there with both the 1.25 inch body and the extensions you didn't install?
@EmbarkWithMark4 жыл бұрын
I think so.

Subbed and thanks for sharing. Question are you going to install a 3rd brake light?
@EmbarkWithMark5 жыл бұрын
Awesome thank you! I have not decided yet if I am going to install a third brake light yet. I have a few ideas for making the stock one work or building one.

Embark With Mark well u don’t need to do all that I just wanted to know after more than a year how the tire carrier from MORryde has held up👍
@EmbarkWithMark4 жыл бұрын
It has held up great! I abuse the junk out of it and I have put a lot more weight on it than one should. It has not failed yet. At one point I had a 35” tire, 8 gallons of fuel, and 2 bundles of wood piled on it. I see no signs of fatigue from that. We also routinely stand on the tire to access the roof rack.

I wonder if the reinforcement bracket from the roll bar bolt should go in as you put the plate on the passenger side??
@EmbarkWithMark4 жыл бұрын
You probably could. But if I remember correctly the body has a nut already there for the tailgate that does not come off. So the bolts need to be tightened down all the way before you install the roll bar support. Because the roll bar support has its own nut.

Do you still like your MorRide tire carrier ? Any tail gate sagging ? I am having trouble deciding. My tire size will 33”. I am also looking for a way to haul Jerry cans or Rotopax. I have been talking to Robert at DirtWorks ,I like his bumpers as well and for the price they are hard to beat.
@EmbarkWithMark5 жыл бұрын
Yes the MorRise tire carrier is still awesome and I have not had any issues with it. The tailgate does not sage with my very heavy 35” tire plus gear in a trasharoo. I store a lot of gear on a roof rack and I use the spare tire as a step stool to load and unload the roof rack. Either option will do you very well. If cost is a concern go with the DirtWorks bumper. He can build them so they hold Jerry cans ( I prefer these over rotopax but rotopax are also a good option) and his bumpers are incredibly strong. I still have his bumper on my Jeep without the tire gate. And it shows no signs of wear even though I have smashed into rocks repeatedly. I’ve used the receiver as a full recovery point many times and never an issue. It’s a hard choice, either one is a great option. If you want a bumper with recovery points and a tire gate get a DirtWorks. If you just want a tire carrier, get the MorRyde system. One last thing, if you are the type that accesses the rear of your Jeep daily. The MorRyde gate is really nice to have!

Thanks for the reply. Couple more questions. Did you re use your Rotopax fuel mount with your moreride tire carrier ? The dirt works rack system is really nice but the tire sticks out quite a bit is the only thing I don’t like, probably get use to if I went that route. My Jeep is like yours a do everything Jeep , my DD , camping , hopefully some more wheeling and few long trips over landing. It’s a hard decision for sure.

Yes your Rotopax fuel mounts can be used with the MorRyde tire carrier. There should be no issues there. If you have not already bought the Rotopax mount I dont recommend their tire mount. other companies have much stronger designs. I highlight the issues in this video here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opPaZpaNmLWfgq8 Yes they will stick out decently far, with a DirtWorks bumper. However, you get used to it. The Rotopax are pretty thin to start with so its not as bad as you might think. I agree careful planning has to be done with rigs like ours. Being an “everything Jeep” means every product has to serve more than one purpose. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

I bought this, installed exactly as the instructions stated and now whenever I try opening my tailgate, the contacts for the third brake light are being pulled on.

It sounds like you may need to make a slight adjustment to the door. You can loosen the door from the hinge and adjust it a bit. From what you are describing it sounds like you don't need much adjustment though.
