Nice Job Lou! Hey, no bloopers? LOL We like your tail light covers. If you get a chance sometime shoot us a pic with the brakes on. Nice explanation on the plug connections, especially the part about how some RV are wired differently for the 7 way, we lived and learned about that. Thanks for mentioning us in the description, it's appreciated. Thumbs up my friend! 😃

I was so cold and working so fast I actually didn't have too many bloopers this time. Don't worry mistakes come easy to me so I am sure I will have plenty next video. I have read that most RVs are wired with the 12v feed to the 'S' (brake pin). Sure enough mine was lol. Thanks for watching and I will take some pics of the tail lights for you.

I've used a Hopkins kit on both a TJ and YJ and love them. The diodes are the only way to go so you don't have lights everywhere when towing. .....makes it look unchanged but works perfect.

I will say the install was super easy. I tested it out and everything worked perfectly. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment.

hi i got a question,, my vehicle was recently towed a few kms from a gas station to a garage because diesel fuel was put in the tank by mistake , i did not witness the towing as it was my mother who was driving the car at the time and supposedly no one touched or worked on the car while it was in the parking lot of the garage as i told them i have not decided what to do after i was given an estimate ,long story short the next day when i went to pick the vehicle up from the garage it would not start, there was enough power to run the dashboard, cargo light radio etc but it would not be enough to crank the engine, i got a boost from the neighbor who drove me there and it seems fine after that, was wondering if the towing had anything to do with draining my battery? the only other thing i could think of is if someone forgot the cargo light on but no it was shut off when i inspected it ,so any thoughts on what may have happened here?

Thanks for the post! Question.....I installed a similar kit by Curt, that like yours, does not have a provision for lighting the license plate. Seems that this could be an issue for law enforcement when traveling during dark-thirty hours.....have you had any issues with this concern? Thanks

Hi, I had not noticed if the plate light are on or off. I will definitely look next time I'm hooked up.

Thanks for the video! This is the one I've been looking for. Very detailed. I do have one question about wiring the 6 pin. My 7 pin on the rv has the positive pin at the 1:00 position as youre looking at. Would that mean I would connect the red wire to the S position? Thanks again and you have a new subscriber

Hi Aaron, The only way to be sure is to connect the umbilical cord to the RV and use a multimeter to identify which pin on the end of the cord is 12v. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for this video - we need to add a 7pt connector pin for our little tow. I know it's totally different to what you've just done lol. Wish us luck! Just subbed

Thanks for watching. It is not much different than the six pin. Tons of diagrams available on the Internet. Wiring is more intimidating than it actually is. Good luck!

What about a trailer brake controller? Do I need one of those as well?
@RVHabit
@RVHabit 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chessie, For most brake devices that go into vehicles you wouldn't but that depends on what brand and type of brake device you choose. If you go with the Ready Brake you would not need a brake controller as that is completely mechanical in nature.

Nice job, except the location of the plug below the bumper. That will be the first thing ripped off if you do any serious offroading.
@RVHabit
@RVHabit 4 жыл бұрын
that is true, mounting on top of the bumper is safer if your going do any hard offroading.

Most of the parts in the "Roadmaster Charge Line Kit 156-25 on Amazon: amzn.to/2XxoQdu" - you can put together though a local parts dealer. But can you use a 20 Amp thermal circuit breaker instead of a 15 Amp?
@RVHabit
@RVHabit 3 жыл бұрын
the fuse would depend on the length and gauge of wire you are using.

Toad vehicle= frog car WTF towed vehicle= a vehicle being pulled behind It's simple 2nd grade spelling
@RVHabit

Hi Tim, in the RV world a towed vehicle is commonly spelled toad. grammatically correct....no, but its just the way it is done in the community.
