I have owned many jeep's, from cj7's and 5's and a few YJ's. present day i drive a 1995 YJ Rio Grande daily. I have fought the faded fender flair issue on them all, and tried every tactic. Painting them never really last, it crack's, chips, flakes off, then it really looks bad. I have done the heat gun trick, propane torch works better and faster as long as you don't burn them. But the absolute best thing i have ever done is, leaving them on the jeep, bottle of rubbing alcohol and #000 steel wool. yes that takes a little elbow grease. you need rubber gloves because they will stain your hands black. But, they absolutely shine black like new without armor all.

I tried the mcguire's restore black - doesn't work! should I use something to remove the McGuires product before using this on flares? I also have white paint so maybe I should mask off the paint/body? Thanks

Does the black stuff work good enough to hide white plastic filler in flare scratches?
@AndysAutoCarePlus Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't think so as it dies into the plastic

Do you have to degrease or use rubbing alhochol first

Always a good idea to thoroughly clean first isopropyl alcohol is a great way.

Wow nice result, can this also be used for hardtop plastic that has faded also to the gray color ?? I thought about using plastidip for the plastic parts and hardtop but this is much easier. Thanks for info.

i have a 98 jeep wrangler and was excited to try this product after watching this very compelling video. unfortunately, the product did not work at all. while applying the product the fenders instantly came to life ... however, the "shine" lasted less than a day. i was so bummed. if you read this and you do find something that effectively restores plastic, please let me know. tysm.
@AndysAutoCarePlus Жыл бұрын
It’s not made to add shine it’s made where you let soak in then wipe down. I have came across where people have painted them and then this product will not work on top of that.
@user-gw4zb9nz4e Жыл бұрын
@@AndysAutoCarePlus i didn't mean "shine" in that context ... i meant the product worked initially but for less than 24 hours. the fenders have never been painted and i did exactly as you instructed in your video. so i was just bummed that the plastic returned to its weathered state right away. again, this is my personal experience, so let me ask you this since i appreciate you responding to my comment ... is there another product that you can recommend? i'm willing to try a second option in lieu of painting them. much appreciated.

I’ve seen it last several years so far just depends on how you maintenance it and climate and other factors. Definitely way longer than just a dressing as this is a restoration

what protection do you put on top? I heard Solution Finish does not have protection in it like some other carbon trim treatments.

Solution Finish also has UV protection. The rag company just did a great interview with Chris west the owner And they talked about that.
