This was the first upgrade I did when I bought my 2016 Rubicon. The issue with these latches is the force the hood all the way down and the sides of the sides hit the front metal of the sides. This rubs the paint off. To stop this, I took 4” purses of wire insulation and installed them onto the hood. There is no adjustment available without elongating the mounting holes.

I’ve had these for a year now and the finish is still like new. No problem what so ever. 10/10 would recommend.

I bought these and the latch kit has NO locking washers, and No flat washers for the locking unit. After install on the passenger side the E clip shot off in the grass, and now I am using the modified version I made. A flaw in this design lets the upper latch section force the E clip off the pin. My other find is that with a hammer and a puch you can tap the the pin that holds the upper section of the latch with a hammer and punch. I will put this on my review also on the home page.

Cool upgrade although I hate to add more keys to my ever growing key chain😤 Is there really a problem with people breaking into jeep hoods?

Depending on where you live and ultimately where you park, yes, it is a problem.

Sorry to make your key ring bigger. 😅 It all comes down to the area your Jeep and you reside in. I'm personally out in farm land where you can leave your keys in your Jeep with the doors unlocked and have no issues whatsoever. I wouldn't want to do that on a trip into the city, though. Extra protection is never a bad thing to have. -Zach

Just installed these today on my 08 jku. Took about 2 hours had to remove the inner metal fenders. My only complaint isn't the part or the installation, it's the video. Very well explained except....when you explain what gasket rubber piece goes with what zoom in the camera so we can see exactly how things go.

This was a painful install, had to take off the grill, remove a portion of the fender liner and it helps to identify that my hood is not perfectly aligned. As long as I remember to close carefully, and to always latch the passenger side first...this works.

So i installed mine fine one day i wanted to open my hood so i use the key and one side open the other didn't they key turns but not unlocking . Then i close the other one and try again later then i can't open both sides now. Anyone know a fix ? Key turns but it's not unlocking i've wiggled and jiggles for an hour tried WD-40 as last resort.

What about the Jl models ?
@LukeEdward5 жыл бұрын
So, in the process of showing us how to install them, you’ve inadvertently shown us the way someone with a 14mm socket can reach underneath and take them off, regaining access to the hood. I guess it’s proof that “locks only keep out the honest people.” Main reason I left my key -hidden- in my old jeep for years.

So how many people run around with a 14mm socket targeting jeeps?
@chuckshade79594 жыл бұрын
@@rjyokum actually I have a deep and shallow socket in my tool kit right now , where did you say you live again ? seriously though they busted a jeep theft ring down in Orlando awhile back and you wouldn't believe the jeep specific tools they had on hand for stealing parts or complete jeeps , it a big problem.

Stock hood latches are just about as bad as stock headlamps on a Jeep Wrangler. Those were the first things I replaced, before going FULL MAD MAX. I couldn't replace those cheap rubber latches fast enough! I actually replaced them before they faded, due to Sunlight, to that pale, matte gray color, that almost ALL Jeep hood latches are. How long does that take? About a WEEK?? MOPAR should've REALLY made better decisions with Jeep's headlamps and hood latches. They really are an embarrassment, to an otherwise decent vehicle.

I would recommend while doing this to touch up the bare metal underneath as that’s just a new hood waiting to happen. Water will sit there. Those spots will rust 100% always always paint bare metal

I give you an "A" for clever. First you say you might have to remove the fender liner. Then in the rest of the video you jump through tightening the bolt from under the fender. VERY misleading...clever but you lost me on this.
@extremeterrain2 жыл бұрын
If you can squeeze your hand into that space with a shallow socket or a ratcheting wrench you may not have to access it from underneath. If you need to remove the liner there are only a couple push pins and small screws to remove (8mm & 10mm) and you should be able to pull that front section back to access the latch bolts. Hope this helps!
