I never liked the hood louver look. But on a very windy day, a large branch fell from a tree and mangled a lot of my hood. I managed to bend a lot of it back into shape. But in the middle was a very large dent. I did not have the money for a new hood so I reluctantly bought a hood louver. Initially, I thought about not making it functional and just covering the enormous dent. But I felt stupid doing that so I made the louver fully functional and cut the holes properly. It was the best low price modification I have ever made! Before, I had to open the hood and let the Jeep sit before working on it. Now, I can open work on the Jeep immediately when I turn it off. It keeps the engine compartment very cool. If I knew it would keep things so cool before, I would have done long ago.

Great video. I trail ride in Arizona and this summer I overheated. I'm thinking this louvered hood piece would help. Are you noticing any difference in temps?

My advise is don't do this to your Jeep, it will look fine for a couple of years, after the finish looks like crap youll regret permanently ruining your hood. This thing is a pain to paint or.touch up.

Five years and counting for my louver. It was supposed to be just to cover up an enormous dent until I bought a new hood. It works so good that I never replaced the hood. The hood with the louver is far better than just a stock hood. Get your louver. You will not regret it.

Very nice mod on the hood! Is water a concern during heavy rain or car washing? I've seen louvers on TJs more on the left side, where the only exhaust manifold is. My concern is for the electronics
@ATEMOFFROAD
@ATEMOFFROAD 3 жыл бұрын
💥 nice, thanks for subbing and watching, at first water was a concern but I’ve talked to so many people that have done this mod and they swear by it, so far it’s been really good and I love the design and look! Also I don’t go through much water or mud puddles where most mud and water comes up from the bottom in anyway, just mainly dry trails and rocks for me , if you can try not to run in the rain and garage if possible! But other than that my hood really needed a make over and I’m a happy overlander! Cheers !

On Amazon it says it's for 1997-2002 jeep wrangler. I have a 2006 TJ. What is the difference between 1997-2002 , and 2006? Would this still work?
@JeepinDownUnder

I'll answer this for Dustin. 1997-2002 have dual washer nozzles whereas the 2003-2006. AFAIK that's the only difference between my 1998 and my 2006 TJ bonnets.

@@rmat9023 I haven’t had any major issues with the install or weather! our red jeep : I will not cut that hood only because it’s more stock than the two jeeps I want to keep it that way, I live in CA so it does rain here , I have driven it in some heavy rains and so far no problems, for the most part the hot engine burns off most of the rain water! I don’t go through much mud or puddles and I do avoid those often , mainly dirt trails and camping for us. Others who have done this mod, did mention that more of everything comes into the engine area from underneath rather than up top from the hood! I some what do agree! Hope this helps
