Great video! Love the channel keep doing what you're doing! I'm in the middle of putting a Powertrax in the dana 30 of my 95 YJ, was going to run it with the original axle for now, but decided to go with an axle upgrade and get rid of that 3 piece axle. Looking at the Ten Factory kit, but wondering how you like the Yukon kit so far? Thanks and well done!

Thanks! No issues with the Yukon shafts and they survived the Rubicon locked with 35s. I think I'm going to go with Revolution shafts for my next build though.

@HardEarnedBacon How noticeable is the Spartan locker (noise-wise)? I think you trailer your rig to the trails, but I drive mine around town as well as to and from the trail.... I'm trying to decide between an Ox locker and Spartan at this point. And given that I need to change my ratio I wanted to do the ring and pinion and locker all at the same time.... Thanks for the info, i appreciate your videos, they always help! Cheers!

I only really notice the noise when making tight turns in parking lots or at stop signs. My Jeep has lots of noises though so the occasional clicking from the front is easily drowned out haha. If you have the money for an Ox I would definitely go that route, that is what I will be installing in my LJ. Superior in every way over the Spartan. And since you are doing a R&P anyway this would be the time to do the Ox since it replaces the carrier.

You mention the windshield seal , did it used to water go through the inside of the cabin , bc mine those the same . But I don’t know where the water comin in from ,

We don't really get rain here so not sure if it leaked. I replaced it because the old one had completely rotted away from age. Check your cowl drain too and make sure it's not clogged.

So does the Spartan locker allow the tires to spin at different speeds when cornering?
@HardEarnedBacon2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, that is the ratcheting noise

Awesome, I can do this now! Curious, and maybe dumb question but, gear lube came out of the CAD box when you took off the cover, how does lube get there from the diff to that end of the axle with that seal there, is there another passage in the axle? Great detailed video man, I like the mix of normal and fast speed, and minimal talking, I don’t need to know every little detail of what your doing, shut up and wrench.
@HardEarnedBacon3 жыл бұрын
There is no seal on that side of the differential from the factory, the seal is between the CAD housing and the knuckle. With the CAD deleted and a 1 piece shaft installed, the new seal goes inside the diff housing and keeps oil from making it to the CAD housing. No oil is needed there now since there are no longer any mechanical moving parts.

I know the advantages of the one piece axle, but what’s the disadvantages? My YJ is 60% pavement dweller, so what will I be giving up doing this swap?
@HardEarnedBacon2 жыл бұрын
Not much, maybe 0.1mpg since your front driveline will always be turning. And depending on the style/condition of your front driveshaft it may cause vibrations at higher speed since a lot of them weren't balanced at the factory. Easy fix to just swap a new driveshaft in. Other than that it's all win and since all mid to late model XJs came with 1 piece shafts as well as all year TJs it's clear even Jeep engineers knew this setup is better.

I’m really glad you got rid of the CAD!..those things are garbage. I understand why they were made but they are a weak point

Do you know if buying these Yukon shafts from Amazon are legit? Right now they are about $500 at 57% off. Seems shady..
@HardEarnedBaconАй бұрын
That's where I ordered them from but that "sale" is complete bogus since the typical price is $500.
