Good work! When you look at the big picture, I see that amount of wear on jeeps with a couple hundred thousand miles on them. That's alot of miles. You just fixed it with a little time and very little money. I would say that's a great design. Thanks for the video!

Great video. As these are getting older this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Car manufactures are incredibly cost conscious. If they can save a $1 they will. If it is harder to repair later, that is ok, you, the customer will pay for it later. The grinder work came out great too. I would have used a file to get better control, but your grinder skills make it work. These XJ's are getting old but we need to keep them going.

Thanks. I definitely agree that these old vehicles need to be saved. New vehicles are just insane expensive now

I'm about to have to do this soon. Going to make it my first welding job before I start going towards Floor Pans. I got the grinding down, so this video is helpful haha.

I just did this today. After replacing everything my drivers side seized after about 45 mins of driving. Ground it, welded it, ground it. Works perfectly fine now

Thank you for making video. IIRC, the pad should hook on both side of the slide on the bottom and the top should engage the one side (toward the rear).

Why not take parts off of the other jeep in the yard ?

I have some plans for that one. It's a slightly different axle, too, and this was something I've always wanted to try. 👍🏼

Nice job on the repair .... Damn stupid design no wonder they swap axles on those jeeps... I have several sets of caliper adapters for dana 44s but have never wore one out I use ceramic brake grease on the slides.

Thanks. I'm guessing Chrysler cheaped out just because the XJ was never supposed to be an icon, ya know. I might do an axle swap some day but I don't really plan to off-road this very hard. 👍🏼
