Hours does that. Sometimes it'll start up right away and then you can turn it off and start the car again and it'll take forever to crank up which it does most of the time. Ours has a straight pipe and it's an awesome vehicle.

Just install a 1 way in-line check valve in the fuel line back near the tank. It will stop the fuel from running out of the fuel line. Problem solved.

These trucks are great, but mine has an intermittent, no spark no fuel issue on cold mornings when I need it the most… I noticed that the check engine light does not cycle on when it is doing this. I have never had any major check engine codes anyway, but I know the truck will start if I turn the key and see the check engine light flash for a second. I tried crank position sensor, but it wouldn’t run at all with the new crank position sensor so we put the old one on it and it ran just fine until next winter New fuel pump, new ignition, coil, distributor, cap, wires plugs, capacitor/ignition coil all sorts of things. At one point I was convinced that the fuel rail was frozen so I would put a hot towel on the fuel rail, and for some reason it would start up, but I was also bumping the truck as well as attempting to start it multiple times, so I don’t think this was a fix. Just a coincidence. All the fuses and relays seem to be good as well The only thing I could think of is if there is some sort of electronic circuit with the ignition that since it’s a rollover, perhaps? If there is something that controls both fuel and spark at the same time to stop ignition altogether, I think that is what the problem is, the ignition switch seems fine, and the ignition switch on the steering column. If something was wrong with it, the truck would not crank at all as I understand it. These trucks are great when they are running, but they are electrical nightmares when they’re not. Thank God for AAA, but damn, it has ruined several work days. I’ve taken it to several shops, and they cannot reproduce the issue, so maybe I should just start parking in the mechanics parking lot that way I won’t have a problem again it really is like that gremlins
@jaywalking173 ай бұрын
If it will not start on super cold mornings, it could be that the capacitors inside the CPU circuit board are old and need new ones. It's inside the box under the hood on driver side inner fender apron. If you heat up that box using a hair dryer or heat gun and it starts, that's your problem. Replace those capacitors, 3 of them.

I'm starting to tend to have this problem with my 2014 cherokee. But it only gives me this long crank start when I fill it with gas. I never have this problem any other time. Normally I'd get 87 gas and starting things up every time I fill the tank it starts normally. But I started getting more the E85 gas that suggest to use for the 2014 cherokee. And every time I fill the tank it always has a long crank and won't start, then I to start it again it'll do the same thing but will start a second time. I don't know, might just go back to 87 gas so I don't always have this problem every time I fill the tank.

not good practice you should change it out soon if it has not done it yet it will start stalling at red lights and when ever you go to hit the gas hard you'll get backfire and a stall and might leave you stranded on the side of the road its not hard just jack the rear end up choke a wheel and put some jack stands its a 14 mm deep socket you can put the entire socket into the tank strap bolt the square drive where an extension would go will be hanging half off but it works just several turns (7-10 turns) and put a jack under the tank and jack up the tank with a piece of wood to not hurt the plastic tank full of gas and you can remove the tank strap bolt has a circle pad that goes into the frame without taking the nut of the long bolt remember to remove the 2 hose the filler neck , breather tube fish it through the frame and down goes the whole tank when you release the jack remove the fuel line (depress the tabs and pull to remove )and the electric connector (try not to brake the red locking tab) and thoroughly blow or brush off all the dirt and rocks and sand and salt from the top of the tank before you go to remove the fuel pump assembly check your tank contents with a flashlight if you see metal slivers you need to drain and clean out the tank to ensure fuel pump longevity even a new filter will be best (use the gas for something else) like bbq starting or something get entirely new gas when i did mine it looked like pee weird cloudy the fresh gas was clear slight yellow and a slight green tint to it pump on ebay for 35$ i put a bit of silicone lube on the seal to make sure it went in easy and silicone greased the plastic locking ring to make sure it went all the way on and was seated right and tight

Hey Ronnie. So a few months ago my 98 jeep xj started to do the long start so zi started to prime it turning to the on position and has been fine. Then last week the fuel level sensor started to go haywire and then a few days ago I started driving the jeep and when I go accelerate, the jeep doesn't respond and is really sluggish and then all of a sudden its starts to drive fine. It does this maybe 2 times and then it's fine. I just bought a new pump and regulator (bosch) and plan on doing a pressure test but wanted to ask your opinion. Thanks!
