Great video Chris! Love the secret beer location and the don't give a F regarding the Prius contingent. Honestly, what you have here is a budget camper (and bad weather vehicle) for you, the GF, and kids to go have a heck of a lot of fun without mortgaging the next two months salary. Frankly, I think you're doing great.

02 and up grand cherokees for the Tupy head 👍. I pulled one from a running 100k mile gc from a junkyard and the Tupy was actually cracked as well. Even the good ones crack if you dont keep up on maintenance.

Yeah, it’s off an 04. It was rebuilt/machined. Thankfully it’s been solid since.

Great truck! Spartan setup looks clean and functional. The upgrade to an inline 6 / 4 Liter will surely add reliability.

Clever placement of your switch panel. I have been looking for a place to put one. I'm steeling it. BTW, before you start the camera, write down what each item is. It isn't useful for you to guess on camera what an item is.

Appreciate it. Yea, I off the cuff it’s kinda difficult to remember over the years what’s been done. Have a great day.

Any details on how you mounted the compressor inside the back?
@cjsmithfl2 жыл бұрын
I can do a little video on it if interested. But it’s a quick setup I did before a trip. It was originally a Viair 88p that I removed the plastic handle from and mounted inside of the rear quarter panel. It’s fused with the original fuse and the fuse on the switch pod. Sorry for the slow response.

Sweet rig. Thx for the details and walkaround. Questions: Where did you get the rooftop mounts and crossbars? Where did your friend get the bag for the right rear cubby hole? Where did you get the front cluster for electronics? Thx

Sick Jeep man, Ik it’s a older vid but do you think you could show how you made the roof rack? I hate the drip rail racks too. It seems like that’s all they sell unless you want to get something hellacious expensive. Did you use the same style drip rail clamps on the oem rails. Thanks in advance.
@cjsmithfl2 жыл бұрын
I ordered the roof rack “brackets” from Amazon. They’re smittybuilt DS5-6 brackets that clamp to the factory roof rack rails instead of the drip rail pinch setup. And I ordered the aluminum extrusion from an online distributor. I went with a 3”x1” size and opted for the black powder coating. I ordered it from Tnutz.com they have so many options you can really get in depth with a nice built rack if you use your imagination. I had them cut the extrusion to the size I wanted and ordered hardware from them to bolt the extrusion to the smittybuilt brackets.

Are you currently still with 4:10 gears front and back with the 32 inch tires. I read somewhere that 31 inch tires where the max for 4:10 gears. I’m trying to keep some MPG, the further you go the more you see.

where did you mount your second battery?
@cjsmithfl3 жыл бұрын
It’s mounted in the rear “box” behind the drawer on the driver’s side.
@kd_wrkntn97383 жыл бұрын
Did you do the rock guard on the sides? What kind is it and would you recommend it?
@cjsmithfl3 жыл бұрын
The lower rocker panels were sanded, cleaned and bed lined. Helps with some of the rock chipping driving down fire roads/trails. I simply taped off at one of the upper body lines of the rocker/door and Painted everything below that with spray on Bed liner from a rattle can. It’s held up pretty good the last 4 years. It’s starting to fade now. I’ll probably redo it again the beginning of this year.

What kind of mpgs you getting in that 4 banger? I’m getting about 12 in my 4.0
@cjsmithfl4 жыл бұрын
Before the 4.0 swap I was got 19.5mpg on a trip to and from the Smokey’s. After the 4.0 swap with a rtt on the same trip roughly I averaged 15.5-16.5mpg. The speedometer was correct both times with a speedometer gear rated for the gear set and tire size.
