is there a way to drive it without hybrid mode, running like a non hybrid car? sounds counterintuitive. just prefer the drive with my previous non hybrids

Why wouldn't you just get a regular ICE Jeep then if you don't want a hybrid?

What about towing at max capacity. Would setting on esave allow the battery to stay as charged up as possible so that if extra torque is needed from the electric motors it will be possibly by there?

Can't understand why they made it where the gas engine doesn't charge the battery, so it would be much more efficient.?

The e save mode does charge the battery actually.

Using the gas engine to charge the battery directly is actually quite inefficient. Your fuel economy drops significantly until the battery is charged. In that case you're both driving the wheels and charging the battery simultaneously, which burns a ton more fuel. The best way to charge the battery is to plug it in of course. If that's not possible, then utilize things like regenerative braking as much as possible.

Charging the battery directly with the gas engine has all kinds of mechanical and electrical energy losses from the gas engine, the coupling, the generator, the wiring, the control electronics and the internal battery resistance. Best efficiency is to just use the braking and downhill drag to recharge the battery since that energy is thrown away as heat in a normal car.

Incomplete hybrid system, in my opinion. A mode too blend electric and petrol from 0 mph, would be more useful - particularly if regen was setup to top the electric battery ... in this mode.

​@@marksharman8029 yep, from the drive position move the shifter to the left, there's an M with plus and minus and you select the gear you want to be in. The ICE will turn on right away
