Thanks again for the info Dale! I'm in the midst of the same issue but with the tilt column. You are a lifesaver, keep up the awesome work!

Very helpful. I had a problem with the ignition rod being lined up as I was changing out the ignition switch. You definitely help me trouble shoot. Fyi the ignition switch are different for tilt and non tilt columns.

That's cool, you're really good at the intricate stuff. Looks like you'll be painting it someday soon. I think that's Hunter Green Metallic, a really nice Jeep color. Thanks for the steering wheel video series 👍

I need to replace the turn signal/ washer switch. I've removed the three T30 bolts however I can't remove the cover, it's still firmly in place. Will I need to completely remove the column to remove this part?

good video and WD40 or Water Displacement 40 was designed to use on electrical circuits to displace water for NASA. It is also good as a penitent but never a lubricant.

The steering shaft easily pushes out when I try to put the spring on and I am unable to put it back together does anyone know why I may be having this issue?

I have a buddy who is struggling with his steering column. He said he broke the original and is about to buy one from a salvage yard for $350. The yard says the tilt needs tightened up. I don't believe they're talking about the handle either. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Did you or have you replaced the upper steering shaft bearing? I’ve seen a bunch of videos on the lower one, nothing so far on the upper one. And yes, a compressor tool is well worth the $40!

What about the little leaf spring under the rack that puts tension against the gear when you turn the key. Does anybody know where to get it from?
@JeepSolid2 жыл бұрын
Not sure
@LOKELYOKEL12 жыл бұрын
That spring broke on mine and caused the "rack" and "spindle" to not mesh and skip. I would give you a link but this reply column keeps deleting my reply. You can go to steering column services. Its a GM steering column and if you find the right diagram, it will be part number 25-rack tension spring. That website sells the parts as well. It has good diagrams of steering columns and parts.

@@LOKELYOKEL1 Thanks for this i found it where you said. It's a discontinued part so says its in short supply. Right now made one from my wifes hair clip as a temporary fix.

Instead of WD-40 take a spray bottle with graphite and alcohol mixed and what will happen is the graphite will lube it and the alcohol will evaporate.
