Real great video. I appreciate the quality of your work even through the internet! My question is does the accelerator need to be depressed while cranking the engine?

Cant wait for the wet compression test, my average is 108~ish. I found a little white slime on my oil cap so really wanting to make sure that the head gasket isn't leaking.

Thanks! Wet compression test video will be out soon. Thanks for watching!

4:22 to 5:15, Don't you want fuel in the system for an accurate reading seeing as the Air-Fuel mixture will affect the compression ratio? Isn't the potential flash point is eliminated by removing of wire to the coil (asking for a friend). I was taught to have the throttle wide open during test also. Maybe I was misinformed?
@JeepSolid3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the throttle should be wide open. Don’t want fuel in the cylinder though. Doesn’t affect the compression test.

hello sir, can you tell me what is the highest compression reading that considered a good reading on a 2003 Mercedes benz e500 ?

But the throttle cable is attached to the intake that you removed
@randyanderson61105 жыл бұрын
Did my compression. On the last cylinder, after putting in oil, I realized that I forgot to open the throttle for my testing. So before I disconnected the compression tester I cranked engine with throttle open and got an extra 4 lbs on that last cylinder. Im guessing had I opened the throttle on all cylinders, before and after oil, the compression would have been an average of 4 lbs per cylinder higher.
@JeepSolid5 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I'd assume theye'd be just a few points higher. Probably not worth retesting them all unless you're on the fence about a cylinders condition.

In order to do the compression test do I really have to remove the exhaust manifold and all that ?? But I put a Jasper engine in there 3 years ago I'm sure the compression is fine .Runs like NASCAR .( I'm not trying to brag ) I would like to see what the compression is actually
@JeepSolid7 жыл бұрын
+Giovani22 no. Definitely don't remove intake and all that. I mention that stuff is part of another video. Thanks for watching!

I basically have the same tester that includes 10mm 12mm 14mm 18mm the 14mm seems to be a tad small and will not thread. I'm wondering what size fit your spark plug hole
@DarthB2133 жыл бұрын
Same, did you ever find a good tester for it ?
@garygary92883 жыл бұрын
I think the problem was the depth. I had to use a non fouler for a spark plug as a extension. Screwed that in first then the tester fit that.

bad lifter could make a. ompression loss?
@mushfaker4 жыл бұрын
If a valve is stuck open the air in the combustion chamber will leak out through it when compressed. If a lifter is somehow causing a valve not to close all the way then the answer is yes.
@Bloodr3ad5 жыл бұрын
Can you simply remove the fuel pump relay?
@mushfaker4 жыл бұрын
Yes. That was the relay that he removed in the video. He just misspoke I think and called it a fuse.

@JeepSolid6 жыл бұрын
With pictures. One photo at a time :) Took a while, but I wanted to experiment with it. Turned out ok.
@randyanderson85576 жыл бұрын
someone said to put a squirt of oil into cylinders before the test, whats your opinion on that?
@JeepSolid6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's the wet compression test. I'd do it both ways. I also have a video on the wet compression test. Check it out... I used a bit more oil in the video than needed. Only takes a squirt or 2.
