Tyler Lalonde Yes, or slashing the throat too. But that is not the primary purpose of the Reverse Out Grip.

Xtreme Training Academy What is? I like the inside version. I'd use it outSide if my knife had a sharpened back edge. That what I would using it for slashing and thrusting. I don't know how good it is with the outside for trusts. I'm more of the pekiti way. But i'd use it how ever I draw it. But where I live I'm not really allowed to care a fixed blade. I have a flip pocket knife so I'll be holding in the forward grip when I draw it.

The primary purpose of the "reverse" grips is to be able to power assist the blade and hack into the chest cavity. The breast plate is a very solid structure and protects the heart, esophogus, and upper lung areas. To be able to get to the "big bleeders" you have to power assist the blade thru or it simply won't penetrate far enough. The De-Fanging The Snake methods that you are referring to, meaning slicing the inside of the hand or bicep, or outside the arm at the tricep is more of secondary purpose and is considered to be more artistic than combative. Not to say that it isn't effective, however it is low on the objective priority list. Furthermore, with any forwardin movement of the opponent, the inside DFTS can be very dangerous as they basically bridge the distance between you and them and literally are on top of you with your upper body twisted into their arm. That leaves you in a highly vulnerable area and subject to choke, takedown, or puncture of the lung if they are bladed as well to say the least. Again, it is an effective tactic for "entry" but unfortunately a low success percentage.

Xtreme Training Academy what about going for the neck the Arteries on the neck would bleed it fast to. I understand that if you hit the heart that will stop him very quick. But how do you get to that without taking his weapon arm? Won't the attacker be swinging with even speed that you Will have to either defang from the outside or tap or trap to get the strike for the neck or heart? Im more of the getting out of the way. In close spaces eye you can't get out then I can't. Buy in the number of situations I wonder what is the most likely. The mugger or burglar.
