i actually modeled my stance to Jeff Bagwell in the late 90's and was very successful at it. Kept my stance low, compact, wide and powerful

Same here.... It felt like I was getting more power outta my lower half and a better launch angle... While sacrifice a little bat speed

My high school coach made me copy this stance. It kept my head still and a short bat. It got me to AA ball

You have to look at what he did with his front foot. His launching front his back leg generates Alot of power. His landing phase in his swung help him to pick on the ball. He stayed short and to the ball. No matter how spread out he was when he planted the front foot it helped him pick up the speed and direction of the ball when it landed.

As a little leaguer in 1997 I adopted this stance after more of a vertical one and it completely changed how I hit the ball. Suddenly I was hitting drives to the outfield and was much more able to generate power. Now as a 37 year old I've started to play rec ball again and was not hitting well with a vertical stance, so reverted back to this same stance and it has again, completely changed my swing and hitting. Thank you, Bagwell!

Sophomore year '95 I heard somewhere Bags stepped backwards to stop lunging at the ball. That happened to be my problem. Also I was born in Htown, DieHard Stros fan, so I thought I would try it. Griffey was my favorite player but like I said, I lunged to much when upright. I made Varsity and was trying to earn a spot in the lineup luckily stance worked for me too. Hit 7 hole soph, clean up jr., and clean up as a sr. Bagwell was definitely more balanced 50/50 in his squat. I had more weight on bent back leg with front leg straightened out. I also pre loaded hands up and back to keep on top and quick to any fast ball I wanted to hit. Load put me in a more standing position with step back right before delivery. I was really comfortable keeping hands still and patient seeing the ball deep then exploding. Probably why I went to college and drafted as a pitcher. Also been coaching for 17 yrs now and I found out early in this career that if I tried to teach how I hit that would be the last lesson I would give that student. Lol

Hands down the most intimidating stance of all time. Every time I watched him I felt like with one swing he could suck the catcher, the ump and the pitcher into a vortex in which he would eat them.

Unconventional yet mechanically sound. Hip and shoulder separation turning the barrel behind the ball into bat lag through the zone..many great hitters did and do things so called experts would try and take away
