He died before I was born and once I found out about him and talked about him to my parents I was amazed they didn’t know any of his song’s or that he had even passed. He’s one of the greatest artists and he doesn’t even get the notice he deserves. I’m hoping as time passes people notice his beauty more and more. I can’t imagine how it would be to see him in concert.

Yes, one of the greatest tragedies in this world is that not every single human being has had the opportunity to hear his angelic, transcendent music. I wouldnt even call him a once in a generation talent because, to me at least, he was so far beyond even that. Probably the greatest musician to ever grace this planet with his presence. My mind is blown and my heart is both filled and broken everytime I hear him sing. Not too mention his insanely creative and wonderful guitar work.
@Chris-cf2kp3 жыл бұрын
My experience was the same as yours. Some people just don't explore music the same as others, it seems; never taking the time to dive under the surface. But some will seek, get entranced by beauty and ahem, Grace, in music whether their environment encourages them or not. I was obsessed with music from early on but my parents weren't so tuned in but my mom and sister have turned around to appreciating Jeff's music since I've played and listened to it so much, especially because he died so soon. Maybe that's our responsibility in return for getting to enjoy his music. Carry it on with us, keep it alive.

Jeff was great. But so was his band. The dynamics of the music is a model for contemporary musicians.

I cant even imagine how intimidating it must have been to play with such an absolute virtuoso. Jeff transcends music into something divine, or whatever you want to call it. Words can't even describe what he was and what he gave the world. Its a shame so many have never even experienced his music/magic.

I was running a record store when Jeff broke on a label. I had goosebumps and cried the first time a I heard Grace. He was part of my soul from that moment. When he went missing, one of the top Sony guys would fax me every morning with the latest news on the search. I had a dream the night before he was found that I was underwater and he was in front of me, looking so peaceful. his hand was caught in branches and as I moved closer the skin let go and he drifted like an angel to the surface. When I got to work that morning there was a fax stating that he had been found. Devastating to lose such a truly kind and extraordinary talent. Rest in Power and Beauty, Jeff 🌹

Goes without saying that Jeff's voice is affecting velvet dipped in emotional honey but I think it's worth giving some props to his band. There's a lot of dynamics that require a deft touch and bombast when needed but all in service to Buckley's voice and character. You don't often hear musical textures like this in popular music especially when it's stripped down to guitar, bass and drums.
@MojoPin19836 жыл бұрын
Well said. I agree, Jeff’s band was fantastic and don’t get nearly enough credit; which they deserve. Jeff’s guitar playing and musical sense is also overlooked in favour of voice - which was gorgeous and incredibly versatile - but I wish more attention would be placed on his guitar chops and his ability to improvise complex arrangements in live settings. Jeff was a true *arranger’s* musician. I don’t think the layman really understands just how impressive his use of unconventional chords was and what an intelligent composer he was. Jeff really wasn’t a standard singer-songwriter. I would put him in the same vein as the greatest classical composers. He was like a one man orchestra. Many people think that his song were basic and merely showcases for his voice, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. His music was simply unorthodox and not very palatable to the untrained ear.

He was ages ahead, I was a metal head, not very open-minded about other generes. Then in the late 90's I discovered him, and I listened his music for three years straigh, every day, even when I was having sex always listening...why? I don't really know still to this days. There's something different in his music and voice, something unique, a thin veil of shadowness and mistery that tries to fill the void of life with a touch of unconfortable awerness.
