I remember watching this at a friends place after a recording session. Both of us stoned to oblivion, looking for something to trip on. I remember after every song, both of us would look at each other, say stuff like 'God himself must be their audio engineer', 'they must have discovered the cheat code for music' etc till they began playing again and we were staring at the monitor once again , trying to take it all in , transfixed, consumed by the heavenly phenomenon that is radiohead.

My taste for music must be far from refined. My 99 years of existence i got stuck with listening to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppling, The Doors, Donna Summer, Nina Simone, and Bob Marley. How come i just stumbled upon Radiohead last month listening a song dancers in America Got Talent??? I am in love now with Radiohead.

As much as I love Radiohead I cannot comprehend what Thom is trying to achieve with his dancing.
@9outof1010 жыл бұрын
"trying to achieve" is a strange way to think about dancing, no? Anyway, I'd rather have post-2002 dancing Thom who seems to enjoy his job, instead of 1997 miserable bastard Thom who thought being in Radiohead was the shittest gig in music.

9outof10 Contentment is the enemy of invention
@9outof1010 жыл бұрын
T0mat0S0up if In Rainbows, or indeed if this performance, was born out of contentment then I'd say that's a pretty good advert for contentment.
@sweaq12310 жыл бұрын
9outof10 I'd say Thom can create great music in any given mood. He's that good.

Just enjoy the music and stop overanalyzing Thom's movements.

Reckoner - refers to the ultimate reckoning, death - being held to account. As per videotape, in which he references the “videotape' of his deeds being presented at the ‘pearly gates’ - entrance to heaven. You can’t take it with you - is about the impermanence of things, of life being a fleeting event - and the accumulation of wealth or status being of only temporal value. Bittersweet distractors - again talking about being distracted from the really valuable events of life by the bitter or sweet distractions of activities that add up to nothing at death. Dedicated to all human beings - this is the thing that unites us, this message is universal. We separate like ripples on a blank shore - this is a huge lyric, referencing the never-ending cycle of life and death - human existences ending continuously and ceaselessly like waves breaking on a shore. There’s more to it though, poetically, the energy is being released, freed from motion. The line “in rainbows” gives the impression of being refracted into energy - into beauty. Reckoner, take me with you - this is an aching half-wish for the release of death, to be carried away. Not mine, but just wanted to share it with you. :D

This isnit just music. it's fucking art! The way he's performing, feeling and living the music is like being intoxicated by the music. he's singing like he never sang before: so raw, so pure so incredible beautiful, that it's almost painful. His way of expressing passion touches me that it's haunting me. And his voice is like as if heaven and hell are kissing! I feel a little jealous, because he is expressing his inner feelings in a way, that many people are afraid of and this makes me somehow sad. Radiohead's music is helping me so much and im deeply in love with their music.
