Searched this fight because it was one of the classic wars I remember on TV from back in the day. Going to watch the many fights i remember between Bazooka Limon, Conelius Boza-Edwards,Bobby Chacon and Rolando Navarette . All friggen wars until they ended. Some abruptly some drawn out beatings. All great. Love my 80’s boxing!

Richie did great and I'm a Chandler fan. That's how you take the title just beat the shit out of him. Dude took it to him continuously. Jeff looked flat though I must say I've seen him better that was his last fight also

Richard Sandoval was superb here. As an underdog he grabbed hold of the fight from the start and never let go. His was effective with the jab, boxed well, landed some nice combinations but also outfought and outhustled Jeff Chandler who was a good champion. A complete performance.

Richie was ready but Jolten Jeff was not right he couldn't but it in gear and he was magnificent once he started throwing his guns but it was like he was high or something he fought Muniz in the rematch he showed how great he was but he was clipped a couple of times in that fight which was a war maybe that took something out of him

From my understanding, Jeff used to struggle to make weight at 119. I learned a trick reading about this. Jeff used to chew Doublement gum to lose weight. I remember reading an article in the early 80s about him burning off weight by chewing gum. I tried it, and it does make you very hungry. You gotta eat light, though, along with your roadwork and gym work. It really works. That's how a lot of old school fighters would lose weight before fights. Jeff couldn't handle the weight anymore, I think he should have moved up to featherweight or super featherweight. Richard was probably very comfortable at that weight around that time, Jeff, on the other hand, wasn't.

This match reminded me of the way Dwight Braxton "upset" Matthew Saad Muhammad. Chandler had been a great champion, but like Saad Muhammad, he was ripe to get beat.

Richie Sandavol was a damn good fighter blue chip talent. His technique was clean.

I remember Sandoval. He became another victim of injury caused by a struggle to make weight. He was great here, but should've vacated and moved up in weight when he began having problems.

@@harryheath9928 Jeff lost before his last fight but he would come back again and get the win. His last fight he was out worked by the young fighter. Like Ray Leonard an eye injury can end your career in Boxing. The young Champion was good beating Jeff Chandler but he couldn't hold on to the Championship.

They say he took a shot of something for a hurt shoulder but wow not to take nothing from Richie rich who was there to get it Chandler was done like bacon here they didn't even show Becky in this one

This only defeat was his worst preformance he did more complaining than fighting as if just discompopualed like Richie really beat and blazed him
